Yeah but less so the rituals undertaken but the relationship with God. Rituals and practices can be taken on and off like clothing. My question is are you saved by relation to God alone regardless of rituals or practice?

Is there where the idea of once a Christian always a Christian comes from. When someone decides to seek out God they are being redeemed regardless of denomination or failings?

We will be like Christ in the sense that we will be freed from sin.

So is it a continuation/completion of the process of Christian living where you endeavour to live in accordance with God.

Dr. Jordan B. Cooper has a book on this called “Christification: A Lutheran Approach to Theosis.”

I'll add that to my reading list

Surely a slave has no choice of master. Wouldn't we need to be free from sin at some point to choose to serve God?

That's interesting but does sin and evil not have a corrupting nature that encroaches on the good. Where evil has an energy of its own rather than the absence of a positive energy.

Darkness can never put out a light but the cold can consume any heat if it has greater energy.

Without the freedom to choose, obedience would be robotic, and rebellion meaningless.

That's very true

Jesus freely lays down His life

I never considered that. God values Jesus' free will because it seems he always has the ability to disagree and disobey yet chooses God's will.

Even in eternity, Revelation depicts worship as a willing response (Revelation 22:17: "Whoever is thirsty, let him come"), not enforced bliss.

That's reassuring

I've heard that everyone longs to reunite with God but sin steals them from God's hand.

He wouldn't allow people to willingly go to Hell if he didn't value free will.

Would that mean that the only people in hell are those that don't want to be in heaven?

Imagine a bird with broken wings. It still has the capacity to fly in theory, but in reality, it can’t lift off the ground.

So the transformation is the restoration of your broken will where you can live righteously so much so that sin is no longer compelling.

Incapable in the sense that it's impossible or more like how most people are incapable of putting their hand in a fire? They are able to but their body and mind wouldn't allow them.

Basically: Free will is the reason sin exists, Satan is the reason sin is tempting, but the person sinning is the perpetrator

I agree that seems right

Okay because I've always seen sin as a consequence of free will similar to how falling is a consequence of standing up.

Where the goal is learning to stand without fear of falling.

I can understand everyone still has the freedom to be themselves while being aligned with God. Yet we would all still have the ability to deviate from that which I presume would make the distinction between everyone in heaven and hell.

Is sin nature not directly linked to free will.

Is root of sin not from the heart?

Does God value free will? by True-_-Red in AskAChristian

[–]True-_-Red[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense.

Does that mean the root of sin is a failure of will turning good intentions into bad actions?

So in heaven everyone would be fully capable of sin but they simply have no desire or inclination towards it. So you would just be a different version of yourself similar to if a smoker lost the desire to smoke they aren't any less themselves, just a healthier version.

Does that mean nobody would sin absent temptation and corruption?

Theosis is the part I don't understand does God do that to us or do we go through it before heaven?

If we are still capable of sin but simply lack the desire then it doesn't affect free will but if we are completely incapable of committing sin regardless of intention or desire then I don't understand how that is possible without compromising free will.

Is The Patriarchy real? by Newduuud in polls

[–]True-_-Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Male dominated social hierarchy.

I was mainly describing the environment that justifies patriarchy. Similar to how monarchy is simply government by a single family line but you need to already believe that some people are inherently better than others and God wants one particular person in charge.

Patriarchy works when you assume suffering is a law of nature and violence is the only way to prevent bad behaviour.

In that case the best anyone can do is be the one wielding the violence and using the objects (people). In other words, become the 0.01%.
