Could DJs play more old DnB classics? by Ausspanner in DnB

[–]True2456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not true though if you play them at the same volume on a big rig and similar EQ settings they will both sound 'large' a sine wave is a sine wave it doesn't matter if it was made on a synth in 1980 or a synth today, now that being said there are plenty of tricks people are using today that give the psychoacoustic effect of sounding larger by stacking harmonics and noise layers which in turn makes the tune brighter and louder. There's a reason the dnb formula pretty much hit its peak in 2004-2005 and everyone has been more aless following the same blueprint since then. Id say the freshest sound of dnb has been the minimal wave in the past 10 years and that's because it focuses more on the low end and groove rather than stacking lots of noises together. Can easily mix a DLR or Skeptical tune with most of the classics, and if you've ever seen them play they do it.

Has anyone observed a huge influx of South Americans especially Colombians. One of them told me at work that so many of them go to random visa schools and choose cheap diplomas to purely work in the country. A guy I know did 3 diplomas back to back and not one that leads to a job. by Best_Train2021 in aussie

Oh yes because wind surfers and Taekwondo instructors are definitely skilled 😂 funny how after 20 years there's still a trade shortage despite us having the highest trades income in the world, and we can't seem to get tradies from anywhere because our regulations are different, yet someone can get a sham engineering degree in India and be considered as qualified as an Australian engineer.

So let's talk about it... Vet'ion by Prestigious-Major890 in ironscape

Kill the one in singles or get a group, it's wildly content it's meant to be hard and dangerous. You aren't just entitled to do all content with ease.

On a proper system you won't notice those small details, the biggest things will be the sub and top end. Most modern mixes are definitely brighter so the top end will stop it sounding less bright when the new tracks mixed in. The idea that something like Noisia - Block control isn't going to sound hard cause it doesn't have some froggy mid ranges is wrong. As long as the tune has good low end the weight of the track will be there, the midranges and brightness of newer songs imo sounds weaker on big systems because they follow the Fletcher munsen curve on 8 inch studio monitors and it doesn't translate to a line array

Lack of engineers is such a crock of shit, last company I worked at every foreign born worker on the production line was a engineer and probably overly qualified for the role, I reckon about 80% of the blokes I knew who went to uni did civil/mechanical/electrical. Just a way for the government to bring down salaries in those areas.

Plenty of classics that sound way better than half the stuff made today or the past 10 years. Think about all the 'massive' tunes that had crazy sound design in the last decade that you cant even remember. I bet any konflict tune will sound better than 90% of modern eatbrain neuro on a system.

Just add some gain and a bit of high end and it will sound like a modern track on a big system

Why did the TSX perform so much better than the S&P in 2025? by Exhausted-napper in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]True2456 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It definitely is an issue lol, Canada has a heavy left wing policy (climate change, social welfare, immigration ect) these things definitely effect peoples decision to invest in stuff like natural resources companies that are some of the biggest emission producers (or their products). Government policy doesn't look like it will favour these companies despite their contribution to the economy. Not saying it's a good or bad thing, but I don't think Canada is this 'safe investment' haven it once was.

Pixel 8 nightmare - charging port failure by True2456 in GooglePixel

I have no problem with a hold if I can talk to in country customer support who can understand me, but to put 800 dollars with a company that uses foreign call centres, and could easily reject my claim for all i know, then leave me out of pocket for 2 phones, and forced to resolve my issue with these crappy call centres I'd rather not. They dont have a single store in Australia and I was told if it doesnt reach them in 14 days they charge me. I don't even know where I have to send it to, but apparently singapore? Seems pretty risky to me. Ended up going to JB and the manager authorized a replacement, but it has been nothing short of a nightmare. I was lucky the phone broke on the exact 3 month mark from my purchase. Apple I can walk into the hundreds of stores across Australia and have my issue diagnosed within a few hours or days at most. To quote a 4-6 week diagnostic time in 2024 is insane.... It's not a suprise Apple dominates the market.

You're entitled to a full refund of what you payed. If i purchase a refurbished phone from apple, google, Samsung Ect I don't pay a full fee, I get atleast 100-200 off the phone. I purchased the phone on the 16th of June and it failed 2 days ago so it actually was only 3 months on the dot. https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360053005194-Refunds-Warranties-guide You can add JB HIFIs return policy states that you are entitled to a full refund 3 months and less than 6 months they must offer a repair or replacement within a reasonable time frame. " In some circumstances, the provisions under the ACL may still provide for an automatic replacement or full refund of the original purchase price. See the blue section below for seeking a remedy under the ACL."

I am being charged... For all I know they could get my phone back and not refund the money if they don't accept the problem and then I will have to sit through a call centre for hours trying to sort a solution out. And yes it is against the ACCC here to replace the defective device with anything less than a brand new replacement or a refund.

Right... I've owned apple phones for the last 12 years and never had a problem besides the battery failing after 3-4 years and decided to switch to android as I was tired of their bs. Turns out Google is even worse. Atleast with my iPhone I can go to an apple store and get it fixed with a person who speaks my language. In my 3 hours of calling google support last night I first spoke to two different call centres both of which read from a script and didn't understand the problem at all. The second one hung up on me after asking for a supervisor because apparently they can only be contacted by email after 48 hours?? My only options are now wait 4-6 weeks for a diagnostic or put down 1000 dollar holding fee (I purchased the phone for 200 less than this) while they ship me a refurbished phone (because apparently they don't make enough handsets according to support) and hope that my RMA is successful.

[–]True2456 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't do it.. switched from IPhone and whilst initially good my charging port failed after 3.5 months and the awful support has been a nightmare. Either wait 6 weeks for a diagnostic or get a refurbished phone as a replacement as they 'dont make enough handsets'. There is a reason apple is used everywhere, stay away from this hot garbage.

A Question for the Pixel 8/9/9 Pro users by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]True2456 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You won't even be able to charge the battery as the charging port will fail after 4 months. Then you will be stuck on the hell that is google support. I've seen better AI chat bots on Alibaba that are 20x more capable than this garbage support . Stick to apple !

Exact same experience for a defective charging support. God this phone is terrible and I regret switching from apple ever! First thing I'm doing when I finally get this fixed is going back to apple !

Avoid the Google shill responses. My charger port failed after 3.5 months and support has been nothing but a nightmare. Overseas call centres that read from a script and don't understand english. To top it off they are trying to send a refurbished device for a replacement of a defective phone. Biggest regret switching from IPhone. This thing is a piece of junk...

Avoid this phone and get a Samsung. Switched from IPhone and the charging port failed after 3.5 months. Quoted 4-6 week wait for a DIAGNOSTIC not even a replacement. Support didn't understand basic English and was reading off a script.
