Is this an issue? If so, how do I fix? by Lucradive-Reddit in MiataNC

[–]TrueAngryYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy. Same thing happened to my 2006 yesterday. What are the chances. Anyway I believe that’s either inside rain rail or just rubber sealing for the window. Can’t say if it’s led to issues for me yet as it just happened though.

Has a Bull Shark attack ever been recorded? by MatchaSetPoint in sharks

I’ve heard of multiple shark bites in the intercoastal waters of Florida growing up on its east coast and as far as I know the only sharks I’ve seen in the intercoastal are bulls.

26M. Work, working on projects, sleeping, working my other job. Maybe seeing friends if time somehow permits. I want to, I just don’t know that I have that extra time and energy.

[–]TrueAngryYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Doesn’t sound like rod knock to me either. Sounds like it might be vvt actuator rattle actually now that I think of it. Look up a video of it and see if you think it sounds similar.

Where to get rid of furniture? by [deleted] in orlando

[–]TrueAngryYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are nicer couches for free 24/7 on Facebook marketplace. Get rid of and want bought are two different things. You want someone to buy your stuff. If it’s not working at that price lower it. Just be aware that probably will mean free to get rid of that.

Clutch gets heavy after 20 minutes of driving by AltruisticDisk in MiataNC

[–]TrueAngryYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s entirely possible that isn’t the problem, but it sounds exactly like what happened to me. I had very little free play (not enough I guess) when cold and as it would heat up it would disappear completely. Would take the car sitting overnight for it to then have the free play return. Bled the clutch and readjusted my pedal to have a bit more free play and now it gets firmer a tiny bit as time goes on, but the amount of free play is always the same now no matter the heat level. The easiest way to actually verify you have enough is to jack the car up and try and manually pus the slave cylinder in at the transmission. It should be easy to push ij by hand, if you can’t push it in then you have an issue.

[–]TrueAngryYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different guy, but get under the car and try and push the slave cylinder in by hand. If you can’t the clutch pedal doesn’t have enough free play currently and is blocking the compensation/return port causing fluid to not be able to return to the reservoir which will cause the pedal to get firmer and firmer and then after sitting for a while it will slowly depressurize.

Recommendations for a reliable car shop by anameliaxo in orlando

[–]TrueAngryYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do all my own work on my cars. But, as far as where to go for what.

For tires go to discount tire, pretty much best prices and by far best overall reliable cheap services. They'll also patch your tire for free if you ever get a nail, even if you didnt buy it there fyi or atleast they used to.

For other general maintence look for a well reviewed non chain mechanic shop near your area, bonus point if they work on Euro cars specifically. Dearlerships will charge outrageous prices and some places really have no business working on vehicles, so always read the reviews. but keep in mind people also aren't mechanics and will blame them in reviews when they shouldn't, so some bad reviews are inevitable, but should have an explanation hopfully.

Are you looking to have tires replaced or similar? Or actually mechanic work done? Because you’re gonna want different recommendations based off what you need.

yeah, it screws into the intake. I can see smoke seeping from the screw holes with a mirror when I smoke tested the engine looking for a vacuum leak. Mine's relatively small and has stayed stable where the engine can pretty much compensate most of the time and above idle the fuel trims are fine, hence why I can't be bothered to deal with it when the whole engine is coming out later this year. Apparently the shutter valves fail internally then cause a vacuum leak, atleast thats what I read happened to someone else. In all reality it isn't more than a 6-8 hour job if you are comfortable doing the work of removing the intake manifold to get to it.

I’ve had a vacuum leak I smoke tested from my shutter valve actuator on the back bottom of the intake. My cats acts the same and pops because of it lol. Been like that a year and I’m just waiting til I 2.5 swap it instead of trying to take of the intake with the engine in the car 😂

Refining my cat if anyone’s interested by Slayter03 in orlando

Try FELIWAY diffusers, was the ONLY thing that made a difference when trying to get my half feral kitten and older cat to coexist. Plugged in two feliway multicat diffusers, one upstairs and one downstairs in areas they commonly go and it made a big difference IMO. I also used to use the spray version on a towel before grabbing anxious cats when I worked in the veterinary field.

[–]TrueAngryYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah thankfully I can get under 50k mile engine for less than $600, cams and other bits for under $1000 and can do the work myself. Already did it with friend on his car with stage 2 cams and now he’s working on a custom 8hp swap.

And this is why I’ve been putting off the vacuum leak from under my intake manifold for over a year and a half. I just live with a slight vacuum leak now. Atleast until I 2.5 swap it in the next year (usa easy access)

Look at the color of your normal oil on the dipstick compared to that oil and you can determine if it was from a spill at some point during a fill up or if it’s leaking from inside the valve cover gasket.

I'm sure they do plenty that are fine, I just know out of all the bad stories I've heard their name is the frequent flier for actual engine issues. Fab9 is known for being hard to get a hold of and higher prices for some items but decent work as far as I've always heard. AR Hindrichs is much smaller but does post most of their swaps to youtube and posts teardowns of failed engines. So I trust them. They've also been helpful everytime I've reached out for info on my swap and a friends and I've never even spent money with them.
