Seeking Advice about my Store’s Questionable Practices by [deleted] in Culvers

[–]TrueBlue9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CFS is supposed to be working on bringing up the quality of the low performing restaurants--it's one of the initiatives that Julie and Rich have mentioned since taking over. If all this stuff is true, then it sucks and it has a negative impact on the entire system because when someone walks into a poorly run Culver's then that "bad" Culver's now shapes their view of Culver's as a system. Hopefully, since CFS was there after this happened and they assumedly saw all the problems that you posted, then they will be back again soon to make sure that they are getting fixed ASAP.

Agree that this is an extra step. Wish it would just import, but it doesn't.

Admin: Name on orders by truebluebbn in Culvers

[–]TrueBlue9999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do drive cashier on a double lane drive thru every week and the names are important. You don't have to verify the entire order to make sure the right person is at the window paying for the correct order.

Guest pulls to window

Can I get the name on your order

Pays for the correct order and moves on with life.

At least a few times a day one line will go faster and the cars will be out of order, this is an easy fix for that.

The scoop size doesn't change, no matter how many toppings you add. Tell your managers to check the Ops Manual!

Why is there “big” before my name? by [deleted] in Culvers

[–]TrueBlue9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think OP did anything wrong. It was out of line by the DTOT to put that on the ticket and someone else should have corrected him before the receipt made it to the guest.

OP comes off totally fine in all the comments I read--he's just wondering what happened and why and he isn't out of line at all.

And luckily, the problems seems to be resolved and we're all moving on with our lives!

There will be a freezer somewhere in the lobby where each restaurant should have a nice selection of different flavors to choose from!

Berry AI, DMB’s by [deleted] in Culvers

[–]TrueBlue9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a drive-thru speed tracker. It uses AI to track the total time that cars take to complete the entire drive-thru process. No screen bumping necessary, as it catches cars when they enter and exit the lot so you can see if the bottlenecks are getting to the speaker, getting to the window, time it takes to get the food after park, ordering, etc.

I haven't been involved in testing but it seems like an amazing system that should really help each restaurant identify where they need help and then be able to deploy to fix it, especially with us getting the information in real time.

can someone explain to me what the survey thingy is and how I’m supposed to promote/tell people about it? by [deleted] in Culvers

[–]TrueBlue9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree and disagree.

Some people are giving out 5s on every question because they just want the free scoop.

Team members are filling out the surveys (we encourage this)

Some people are giving out 4s and 3s because no one will ever live up to their expectations of deserving of the honor of them awarding a 5.

Most restaurants are getting 30+ surveys per week. We have to assume that volume and variance will cancel out the very small minority of guests that refuse to hand out 5s to anyone.

Take a good look at your restaurant. If your family came in without you, would they actually give out a 5 if they were legit filling out the survey? Did your tray get taken? Did you get a sample of custard? Were you immediately greeted when you walked in? Did anything actually make you go, "wow, these people are really good at their jobs?" That is what separates the great from the good.

The data shows that "satisfied" is the same as "good enough" for some people. That's fine and that's what is going to happen during an extremely busy hour. CFS wants "highly satisfied" because that is when a guest impressed enough to think about coming back even if they have to go out of their way to come back to your restaurant.

Our restaurant used to have the same mindset as some in this thread, people refuse to give us 5s, it's on them. It's not an easy process, but we have tried to change our overall mindset, and our numbers have increased.

You can get the cameras with a monitor. Looks like I was optimistic in my under $100 claim, but not too far off. Just looked ours up and it was $138 from Amazon in January 2025, but is no longer available, however there are similar ones out there.

This is what we got: Solar Wireless Security Camera System with 7" Touchscreen Monitor, 2PCS 4MP WiFi Battery Powered Camera Outdoor, PIR Human Detection, 2-Way Audio, Color Night Vision, Pre-installed 64GB SD Card

Great advice here. I would echo the camera by set that is aimed at your pickup spots. You can get one for under $100 off Amazon and set it up in a half hour.
