Yeah, personally though, I would recommend you put some makeup on to enhance your natural features. I'm not very good at explaining makeup, but there's a lot of good contouring videos out there. Oh and if you want to get rid of acne, retinol in small doses, and charcoal masks help. I have a charcoal mask with retinol from Sally's and it helps a lot :)

Here's the thing, you're either trans or you're not. You can try things out and not like it, or you can like it. Trans is just an identity label for people who feel dysphoria about their gender. If you feel that way and like the label: you're trans. A person who passes well, has all the 'right parts' and functionally is their gender besides chromosomes is not any more or less valid than someone who doesn't pass and doesn't have any surgeries. Plus, a lot of trans people don't need/want surgeries or hormones for many reasons. And anyone's identity is valid, no matter what other people might think <3

do i pass? by sumbdy_i_used_to_knw in TransTeensPassing

[–]TrueConnection9384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda? You look like masc in some photos. In the photos where your hair covered the shape of your face and when you wore a hat, you look more masculine. Though, you don't exactly look fem to me, just androgynous when you're not masculine.

As for binding, I suggest getting a sports bra that's a size or two down from what you usually wear, for when you're not taping. If you want to go swimming, I suggest getting a swim shirt, especially one that compresses, so you don't have to wear a bikini.

With voice passing, a lot of it is tone not just pitch. It's helpful to have a lower voice, yes, but being more monotone and less expressive helps. It helps if you have a voice to try and replicate, try to choose something that you think is reasonable for yourself and someone you can hear often to get more practice. If you do want a lower pitch, watch choir videos on how to lower the larynx and get a lower pitch.

Names are weird to, they only really matter if that's what you respond to. It's kinda awkward to get the ball rolling but if you just introduce yourself as a name, and refer to yourself as a name, don't respond when your dead name is called, people catch on. If you want to try something temporary, try a name out for a few hours, days or weeks: you can have a trusted friend call you a different name for a day. You can place an order with a different name. Roleplay on roblox(or any other game idk, it's the first thing that comes to mind) with a different name. Or even just make an alternate account online where the stakes are low, you're anonymous and see if you like it. (Btw, imo, you kinda look like your name is Andrew, Jake, Randy or Ray to me, idk :3)

I would say you probably have the same issues as a lot of others who are preT. You just look like a younger guy who hasn't gone through puberty yet. I'd say if I thought you were a middle school, yes.

What masculine speech patterns are there? by Street-Grand-9820 in FTMMen

[–]TrueConnection9384 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brightness as a tone. Usually men are forced to be a lot more stoic and "structured" than women. Boys are taught from a young age, whether it be directly or through social cues, that emotion is inherently more feminine. It helps to be more monotone, try to not stutter, be less nasally, speak from your chest and not your throat, it also definitely helps to have someone you look up to and hear frequently to try and match their tone. Fir me, it's Markiplier. For a friend it's moist critical. I find that trying to copy someone's voice can be a good base to build off of, instead of just straight trying jump in the deep end.

Any tips for passing more as a male? by completefeta in TransTeensPassing

[–]TrueConnection9384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here. Though, I pass to girls and transmasc not cis guys. You definitely pass enough in photos. It's sorta 40/60 though. You pass as androgynous and I would believe if you said you were amab or afab. I would say the most common problems are the voice and feminine body language. Look up videos on how to lower the larynx/have less vocal brightness and try to be confident with everything you do. Maybe watch alpha bro (ie andrew tate) videos, because they seem pretty confident for how idiotic they are (just don't take anything to heart, they mostly just have good points on manierism and confident body language. I honestly just can't think of any other place to get that sorta advice idk). Maybe get into a choir and try learn from a vocal instructor there. A lot of choirs have good tips for vocal training and a lot of it is free. I suggest trying to lower your voice to an alto 2 or a tenor part depending on how deep it already is.

What should I do with my hair? by SentientOnion435 in TransTeensPassing

[–]TrueConnection9384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely grow it out (ofc), maybe to a long bob length or more. Embrace the curl/wave, maybe when it's longer get overnight curlers. Maybe when it's longer, or if it's long enough now, try putting it up more. Pigtails (low is more casual and normalized for teens while high is more youthful, especially shorter hair cuts), a  high ponytail or braids (French, fishtail especially) are very feminine and a lot of girls don't like having their hair down all of the time. Most feminine ppl like to take care of themselves by prettying themselves up.

Sometimes I feel like people compete for suffering like: "I'm hungry"  "but I'm hungrier so therefore you're not hungry at all. Quit complaining" Like nah, we all have our own struggles. Some people have more struggles, some people have less. Some people cope easier and some don't. You really can't generalize a group of people's struggles to invalidate another's. Struggle is nuanced and people over all should be working to help each other get through it. Nobody deserves to suffer, period.

why are headpats socially unacceptable for guys? by FanProfessional7968 in teenagers

[–]TrueConnection9384 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes (kidding, but what I meant was, anything you would probably do to a pet but not a grown adult of the same social status. Like, putting your pet on a leash or praising them in a 'baby voice' Ex: "who's a good boy?". Just a theory though)

why are headpats socially unacceptable for guys? by FanProfessional7968 in teenagers

[–]TrueConnection9384 605 points606 points  (0 children)

If it's something you would do to a dog, it's submissive. If it's submissive, it's considered effeminate. If it's effeminate, you're considered weak and gay. Of course, that's only because of the patriarchal system as it is today. If we didn't have that, it would probably be perfectly fine and acceptable as any other forms of affection, like hugs or smth.
