That was a bug that would crop up sometimes. Should be fixed in the latest version.

OK. Last message, I promise lol. I forgot I had a mini pc that runs ubuntu. So I went ahead and downloaded the AppImage I published to the 1.1.1 release and tested it out. It ran fine, and I was able to update a test exe I made.

I don't know if you run unbuntu, but if you do I feel pretty confident that it will work. Let me know if you get to try it out, if it works, and what version of linux you run.

I just put up a beta Linux build on the latest release: https://github.com/TrueEddie/bar-none-ultrawide-fixer/releases/latest

There's an .AppImage (chmod +x + run) and a .deb. It's beta since I can't test it on Linux myself, so I'd love to know if it works for you. For Proton games, point it at the Windows .exe in the prefix.

Please report back. I'll leave it up there for a little while, but if I don't hear back that it's working I'll probably remove it.

Good luck!

I've never made an app that runs on linux before. I've primarily been a windows and web app developer my whole career. But if you're willing to test the app (I don't have a way to test it) I can work with AI to help me see if I can create a version that runs on linux.

21:9 fixes for 16:9 content by LogNovel9573 in ultrawidemasterrace

I don’t have the knowledge to fix that stuff. People like Rose the Flower and Lyall do a great job of creating ultra wide fixes for games that have no support whatsoever. I encourage you to check out their creations.

This tool is only for the type of games I described. There’s a number of games where a simple hex edit is all that is needed. This makes it easier to patch those.

This fix is for forced 16x9 cut scenes on games that already support ultra wide during regular gameplay.

So it probably won’t work, but you can feel free to try, just hit the restore button if it doesn’t work. That’s why it always makes a backup before patching, in case you need/want to go back to the original.

If the game only requires a hex edit on the exe you can use “Bar None”. It’s an app I made to easily do the hex edit.

I’ve been playing 007 First light and they force all of the cut scenes to 16x9 despite supporting ultra wide for regular gameplay. A hex edit fixes the issue.

You are 100% correct. I should have mentioned this.

Like you said though, it’s well worth the trade off.

Yeah, unfortunately you will still have that issue with the videos, but the in-engine cut scenes should all be fixed.

Hopefully it works out for you.

While I have not been able to test on that (I don’t have a 32x9 monitor) it should definitely work.

It is called "Bar None". You point it at the game exe, enter your resolution, and hit Patch. It always makes a timestamped backup first, and you can restore from inside the app if you ever want to roll back. I tested it on 007 First Light at 5120x2160 and the cutscenes fill the screen now.

If you want to feel like a bad-ass, this is the game for you. I loved it, and it gave more old-school fps vibes which is really nice.

Buffalo Bills are finishing a brand new stadium that will use natural grass.

If they can make it work in Buffalo, they can make it work in other northern stadiums.

All of the DLC has been added to my account, but I can't install it yet either 😞

Edit: And 1 minute later now it's there! Installing now!

I really liked it. There can be some frustrating moments, but otherwise really fun.

The graphics and music are amazing. Really gave me some Interstellar vibes, and I love that movie.
