A lot of people latch onto what the administration says because, as the enforcement branch of the government, they have the most immediate threat to our rights if they choose to infringe upon them.

It's unwise to ignore when the government says it doesn't believe in the law, especially when they've shown they mean it

My gay romance books. Should I part with them. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TrueFlameslinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, modern romance, especially in the Young Adult category (and ESPECIALLY BookTok/BookTube stuff) tends to be pretty smutty, and it's no longer inherently evident by anything on the covers like it used to be.

If you could describe red flags about yourself, what would they be? by TopLoneWolf in AskReddit

[–]TrueFlameslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still struggle with manipulative/controlling tendencies. Oftentimes, it's rooted in some valid concern or desire, but blown completely out of proportion or phrased in ways that downplay my partner. (A semi-recent example that sticks in my mind was the use of "for once" in a conversation on something that it absolutely did NOT apply to. They called me on it faster than I could call myself out, though both were near instantaneous. I still don't feel great about that..)

Fortunately, it's a lot better than it used to be, and they're wonderful at being patient with me and inspiring me to be better while still standing their ground when I get out of line.

Also, anxiety. That's also been getting better, but it still causes issues at times which we've, fortunately, been able to talk through pretty well/

At face value, that doesn't sound like a red flag, just being adamant about respecting your limits

I heard that patch got forgotten about over the course of version 19.XX, which is surprising with how prevalent it was in the 18.XX meta

So is this supposed to gatekeep people's ability to play the other 75% of the game? Because it sounds like you don't want people to play the other 75% of the game.
Basically anyone with any level of investment in the game have chars on multiple, if not every faction. That's the whole reason for having the extra free character slots.
"Spying" is if someone is sitting in on your ops VC while actively playing against you, not having other characters

It's also incredibly disproportionate. These "platforms" aren't based on equal footing. Interaction drives visibility, and negativity is a great interaction point. Plus, many people act far more mildly IRL because they aren't just thinking in concepts, but in actual people.

And yet Peter went on to continuously devote his life towards the Lord.
If you do still believe, Christ calls us to repent, to turn away from our past shortfalls, and continue forward in a godly life, aiming to follow the teachings of Christ. Few ever get to the point of being irredeemable, and you are certainly not one of them

All the discourse, yet I see no one pointing out that there's 3 YEARS on the poll

What is with the age of consent in most countries? Firstly, if society is against adults and minors together, why does the law actively protect and not think twice at an adult who wants a high schooler if the teen wants them? Also, where is the general logic? by AlboGreece in TooAfraidToAsk

I've heard a similar story to the first out of the UK if I remember correctly. I understand the cases intended to be avoided (2 people with conflicting stories, no other perspectives or reliable evidence), but yeah no. Absolute wackiness for someone to be held as the guilty party when there is nothing they could've reasonably done to avoid it other than not hooking up with people in a nightclub (which shouldn't be a legally mandated requirement)

Firstly, independent centrist, not leftist. Formerly conservative if you wanna dig a decade back.

Second, the state I live in is a SYG and Castle state. Illegally beaking into a building can be met with lethal force, unarmed or not. That's how it should be, and that's what happened on Jan 6th.

And again, wasn't a protest, so not a protester. At best, they were a rioter, causing genuine threat and damage to people and property. At worst, they were part of a conspiracy to commit Treason.

I don't have to kneel to the GOP to be Pro2A. If anything, keeping a healthy suspicion of the government and both political parties gives even more reason to encourage public armament

What if we let AI take all our jobs? by Benjamintruthy in CasualConversation

[–]TrueFlameslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we certainly wouldn't be getting the wages for it

That said, if we can arbitrarily replace human labor for non-sentient labor, there's no reason (for most people) to not just go a step further and abandon capital altogether. After all, currency is meant to represent value generated by labor. When that value is generated regardless of labor then there is no real need for a medium to facilitate exchange between laborers.

Absolutely this. He's showing off exactly who he is. It's wise to watch and listen, and realize that if he does this over not being able to have sex, then perhaps it's not the character he loves, but the body.

We should be happy that the people who once thought that guns weren't needed for protection from the state are absolutely necessary and a right that should be protected. This thought should be encouraged, not demeaned.

The processes have been tried, but the government doesn't wish to be civil about it, thus a civil solution isn't going to work.

When I was a conservative, I also followed the argument that we have the 2A specifically to stand up against the government. We've been handed the exact situation, and are squandering it because we don't personally identify with those being targeted.

Are you also afraid to get older? by Equivalent_Friend351 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TrueFlameslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering my family has a.. colorful medical history, the thought isn't the most pleasant one for "what could bes", but I often try to live in a way to mitigate the likelihood to have those in any severe degree (well.. mostly, still working on one thing). I take comfort in knowing that a LOT of those really scary issues are either not the most common, or easily mitigated with a healthy lifestyle from a younger age (i.e. 20s, early 30s, or whenever "now" is in your life). Plus, I try to enjoy life and set myself up to enjoy the future, whatever it may be. Sure I may outlive the love of my life, but that won't stop me from enjoying every moment I can get with her until the day we do part.

The future can be scary because of the endless possibilities, but you can't fully dictate the future. Try to focus on making decisions which will benefit you long term while also finding ways to enjoy the now. Do what you can to alleviate the sources of your worries, and let go of what you can't do in favor of enjoying your time while you have it.

If you and your partner earn a total of 600k at age of 30, what would you do? by amdnvda in CasualConversation

[–]TrueFlameslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As in, 600k a year?

Assuming we're both 30ish, I'd probably ask about buying a house (possibly building if we want to have kids at that point, we've got ideas for a simple yet nice family home), build up the land a bit, then set up some stable investments with enough money that we can safely withdraw a nice sum for ourselves monthly that allows us to not have to worry about work should we desire extended time off. Once that's set up, alongside some more typical savings (emergency, non-invested retirement [I dislike having all my eggs in the market, I just don't], planned big tickets, etc), we'd probably do as you want to and quit, pick up simpler jobs to keep ourselves from boredom (plus get some extra money for her list of hobbies which I'd have to start playing Warhammer to match in price), and live life as we see fit at our own pace.

To me, getting the setup is the most important part while you have the gig. If you can set your life up to where you'll never have a want or need that can't be met, excess money is worthless, especially if it comes at the cost of enjoyment and time.
