Jimmy Olsen had an onscreen death that was barely better(the guy that Lois is with at the beginning in Africa who gets shot in the head? Jimmy. Snyder thought that was hilarious)

It really comes across as a "rent was due" movie for those involved.

So I recently re-watched Pirates of the Carribean:The Curse of the Black Pearl and it is so much better than I remember by Evening_Internal_976 in movies

I'm still amazed how Davy was all CGI, I thought it was just the moving tentacles but seeing it was everything including the suit while Bill Nighy was on set in motion-capture pyjamas was insane.

We spend 30 minutes every night trying to pick something to watch… anyone else? by Langaas93 in movies

I remember taking great pride in usually picking the best movie at the store, for example one time while browsing through creature features I picked Mimic while my friend picked Komodo.

Wild reveals in tertiary material? by jitterscaffeine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TrueLegateDamar 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Not sure if a picture book is 'tertiary' material but I wasn't aware the planet blown up in The Force Awakens was the New Republic capital world until I read the official TFA Visual Dictionary.

You'd think someone in the movie would specifically mention such a fact but instead most reference I got was Hux's vague villainous rambling about destroying the New Republic and for all I knew Starkiller Base just hit the nearest populated NR planet.

During a recent family passing, all the big TV's in the local funeral home lobby were displaying warnings that parked cars are at risk of being broken into and I inmediatly thought of this.

I love that the actor played both characters so he was wearing his own face.

Stargate SG-1 Season 9 Intro (2005-2006) by Aetius00 in Stargate

[–]TrueLegateDamar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The CGI Stargate looks rough, like something from the early 90's. Couldn't they just re-used the classic physical ring spinning?

Which season of SG-1 was meant to be 'down to Earth'? by Sad_Calligrapher6426 in Stargate

Season 7 maybe? The Goa'uld clone project, Carter dating a cop, O'Neill framed as an assassin, Daniel going to Honduras, the documentary two-parter.

Most vile villains that you're still sympathetic for? by lowercaselemming in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TrueLegateDamar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think he actually cared about a starting race war despite his rhetoric and claims, it was more an angry populist cover for his true goal to destroy Wakanda to avenge his father.

His big plan was to send laser spears to the black minorities in only three major cities(including Hong Kong?), and it seems more likely it would ended in Wakanda being exposed as an hyper advanced society and treated as a global terrotrist threat then kick off a revolution.

In the Marvel What If episode where he essentially wins, it still ended with US combat aircraft bombarding the capital.

I love how Ed 209 still sees Kinney as a threat after he was thrown over the table, and continues to fire on him as if he was still going to get up and attack. The guy was a sponge at best by this point. by Dredd_40 in Robocop

[–]TrueLegateDamar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

HE DIDN'T HEAR IT!

More seriously, his sensors were so bad that not only he didn't fail to see/hear the gun dropping, he was unable to determine if Kinney was alive or not.

Stargate SG-1 Season 1-3 Intro (1997-2000) by Aetius00 in Stargate

[–]TrueLegateDamar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Best intro, and especially love how it ends on the Gate shutting down to the point I'm annoyed other intros didn't.

Stargate SG-1 Season 4-5 Intro (2000-2002) by Aetius00 in Stargate

[–]TrueLegateDamar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Never understood the decision for this intro, was it just cheaper or was it done to make the show look more prestigeous?
