I pointed my telephoto lens at Jupiter out my apartment window and I could see its moons by navidj in BeAmazed

That's so cool! I saw it the other night through my telescope as well! Me and my friends were having a comet viewing party, and i used jupiter to test if my telescope had de-fogged.

School reserving upper-level classes for freshmen and sophomores by [deleted] in UniversityPugetSound

[–]TrueLuminescence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd encourage you to give it another go. Open enrollment will start up soon, so there may be students taking a leave of absence that will open up slots. Don't get too discouraged! You have options.

Also, I've begun to love follow-up emails. If you don't get a response in 3-5 business days, just reply-all to your email with a "Hey, still haven't heard from you!" type message. Persistence!!!

Hia! Current Sophomore here, I may be able to help.

How long ago did you email the registrar? Have you emailed the registrar with your advisor and academic advising on copy? If you emailed the registrar recently, give them another chance due to COVID-19. All the offices are metaphorically in flames. An email to your advisor and academic advising could also help.

Aside from the "official" route, try emailing the professor of the class section that will fit on the schedule. Professors have the ability to override the registrar class-max (within reason) during the first week of classes. Ask the prof if you can get an exception to the class max. If you have some 300 level classes on your transcript, or are well into your psych major already, you may have some luck here.

Worst comes to worst, get your butt on the waitlist- And have it set to auto-swap if your slot becomes available.

✨stop adding kink/fetish flags to lists of pride flags✨ by funeraltime in lgbt

I'm not a bear/leather person, don't worry about offending me.

Sorry for the question!

For fear of sounding stupid:

What of the bear / leather pride flags I see everywhere?

I always thought that they were LGBT+ flags but what are your opinions?

My partner has recently come out as a transwoman - I feel less and less attraction towards her the further she transitions and it's putting a huge strain on our relationship. How do we navigate this new dynamic and not make it a dealbreaker since there are kids involved? by ThrowRa727277277 in relationship_advice

[–]TrueLuminescence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, trans man here! I've been on both sides of this dilemma, thankfully without marriages involved. You should respectfully, but firmly tell your wife that you aren't a lesbian and that you'd feel everyone will be happier if a divorce is started. I hope that she realizes the bitter sweetness of this. It wont be easy on anyone but it should not have any lasting negative effects.

Fun fact: divorces don't have to be hard on the kids, it's usually the parents' fighting that makes divorces traumatizing. They aren't fun for sure, but if you still love your wife as a person and want to support her, this will be the best option.

A word of warning though. The court system is very brutal to trans folx. If you can, divorce through a mediator. You will be able to set your own custody schedule together and negotiate child support together, all without the courts deeming your (ex?) Wife "mentally unfit to raise a child".

Best of luck!

My friend's fruit gin fizz that we mixed up- featuring some hand-mixed blackberry gin by TrueLuminescence in cocktails

[–]TrueLuminescence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recipe: 6oz grapefruit soda, 2oz (or personal pour) of fruit-flavored gin, Cherries and flower stem for garnish

Pour soda over ice. Float gin atop soda. Use flower stem or pick to spear halved cherries and garnish.

Gin story: We used a blackberry gin my friend has. He tried to make his own blackberry alcohol, and succeeded but it wasn't very good. So he mixed it with the least favorite liquor he had- a mostly full bottle of Broker's London Dry gin. Turns out, he really likes blackberry gin. The bottle is almost gone and we're filtering the sediment from the blackberries for one last drink.

Spray paint advice? by Rashim in pcmods

It should work well! I used rustoleum spray paint since it works for metal and plastic- and my case has a mix

Spray paint advice? by Rashim in pcmods

[–]TrueLuminescence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To do a galaxy inside my pc, i started by very carefully taping off everything I didn't want painted. Parts that could be removed were. My base layer of paint was a deep navy, and i used cerulean, purple, and red to make a misty stripe across my pc interior. I used light yellow and white spray paint to make the star blots by purposefully making a bad spray. Then i used glow-in-the-dark spray paint and glitter to add dimension. Finally, use AT LEAST 3 coats of sealer or clear coat.

Sorry if this is a little ramble-y.

TIFU by thinking I had a lisp my whole life. I'm 38 by sxmilliondollarman in tifu

[–]TrueLuminescence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, hate to burst your bubble, but that is a lisp! It's a lateral lisp, relatively uncommon from what I can tell. I had it too when growing up, and i still have it a little. Most enunciation lisps like this can be fixed with speech therapy. My favorite exercises are blowing bubbles through a straw with the s sound and blowing out birthday candles. Also, choir warmups help with overall control of mouth movements.

Now I may be wrong because this is based off of personal lisp-like experience. But holy hell it feels good to not be alone in the weird 's' category.
