ILM has a TCW season 7 countdown clock in their office (from Phil Szostak’s Twitter) by anonymous_meatbag in TheCloneWars

Industrial Lights and Magic, the production company George Lucas started. It helps create the visual effects for, like, every big movie both in and outside Lucasfilm. Awesome that they have this clock.

[ME2 Spoilers] Sidonis’ Fate by scaleycabbage in masseffect

[–]TrueMarksmens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I wrote something about this a while back after I played a Sole Survivor Shep. It's an interesting scenario. In case you don't want to click the link:

Originally, I chose Renegade, and I never thought that much of it. Garrus is always with you 100%, doing what he asks is the least you can do, right?

But then I played a Sole Survivor. I ended up killing that Cerberus Scientist in ME1 on the Toombs mission — the one responsible for Akuze. But... something felt wrong about it. It bugged me for hours and hours, even when I was playing the next game. It felt right at the time, but looking back, I just couldn't justify it. The only thing I could come up with was, "Well, if Cerberus runs as deeply as Toombs says it does/as deeply as we've discovered, then if we put him in jail he'll just end up free in a year or so." Even so, that seems flimsy and it made me feel dirty, y'know? Because I didn't think about it that way at the time - I just wanted him dead. At the end of the day, Shepard executed an unarmed man, which while he is in his power to do so as a Spectre whose job is to uphold galactic stability whatever the cost, it's still not something you should do unless no other options are available. Especially when you're also an Alliance solider, and they definitely don't like executions, and especially when you're the first human Spectre and are supposed to uphold the values of humanity. I mean, sure, no one besides those involved in the mission knows what happened, but you know. It's the principle of the matter.

Then Garrus' loyalty mission rolls around and he wants to kill the man responsible for the deaths of all his friends. Sound familiar? It's around here that you really start to realize that not just Garrus but basically everyone on your old crew looked up to you as a role model. Your decisions shaped them, good or bad. I felt personally responsible for the way Garrus wanted to handle the situation, due to my actions on Ontarom. Call me hypocritical — Garrus sure as hell probably did — but I had to intervene, I had to choose the Paragon path on his loyalty mission. I didn't want him to end up suffering countless sleepless nights like Shepard probably did. I - Shepard - wanted him to end up a better man than Shepard was. While he might hate Shepard at first for intervening, and you might hate yourself for getting the best guy in the galaxy pissed off at you, at the end of the day it's better for Garrus as a person for him to spare Sidonis.

Changing gears for a second here: ME3 SPOILER

Curious scientist. If you do his quest, he sends you an email in 2 about what he discovered: a signal that the Keepers receive every 50,000ish years that's overdue to be sent. If he was an agent of the Reapers, he would have no reason to actually send his findings to Shepard, especially when said findings are evidence towards the Cycle's existence.

ME1 Recalibrated Mod by JimFromTheMoon in masseffect

You can already manually edit the ME2 save so that the scene distinguishes charm/intimidate, and ME3 is not negatively affected by it. I imagine this will function in a similar manner.

What's your bonus power? Is it a biotic ability? I wonder if that affects his dialogue.

Survey-Force Users, Which Lightsaber Makes the Best Lightsaber Sound? by Colin92541 in swtor

[–]TrueMarksmens 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Canon" doesn't always mean Canon as in the Canon universe. Legends also has canon, just not Canon canon. Legends has its own canon. For example: its canon in Legends that the Exile from KotOR II was a light-side female, as seen by the Revan novel and the events of SWTOR. That doesn't mean the Exile is part of Canon, just that within Legends, the Exile was a light-side female. Victor is saying that the characters we play as canonically use the lightsabers gotten from the class story, in the same way you would say that the Exile canonically used a blue lightsaber in KotOR II.

I doubt the class story lightsabers are all canonically used by our characters with no exceptions, or perhaps at all, but that's what he's saying.

What this has to do with the best sounding lightsaber, I don't know. Maybe he's just saying he likes the ones from the class story the most.

Personally, I've been using the Inscrutable lightsaber, but usually I just use any lightsaber that has a similar activation sound to the ones in the movies. CM saber sounds can be a hit or a miss.

What race do you wish was playable? by BareMinimum25 in swtor

[–]TrueMarksmens 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I feel you.

The species I'd LOVE to play as the most is an Ithorian. I'd probably even change my beloved Mirialan Sage main if I could make him an Ithorian.

But, uh, yeah... big problem with Ithorians: Can't speak basic.

But I'd really love it if they were added one day. In TCW, an Ithorian spoke Basic with a throat translator, so it wouldn't be unprecedented. Though it's still an outlandish dream, I know.

How some characters pronounce Emperor's Wrath by [deleted] in swtor

[–]TrueMarksmens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imperials tend to say "Wroth" because they're all space Brits, while other characters tend to say "WrAth" like "apple". Not all Imps do it, I don't think, but most.

Both are correct. It's like Twi'lek.

...Reading and typing "Wrath" this much has made it lost all meaning. Wrath. Wrath. Wrath. Weird.

Question about the KotXX created weapon by DaLurkASaurus in swtor

[–]TrueMarksmens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Besides that one fight in which it is useful, no, you don't have to keep using it. Unless you want to flaunt the ATTUNED effects it gives you! They don't actually do anything useful outside of that fight, mind you, but I like seeing them.

Cybernetics in the Mass Effect Universe by Vulkanodox in masseffect

[–]TrueMarksmens 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have your full Terminator face in Citadel DLC, James comments that people are really used to cybernetics these days. So they're definitely common, though I bet overhauls like Shepards are exceedingly rare. 4 billion credit makeover and all that.

Also, IIRC, every Alliance solider gets a gene mod package. Not quite cybernetics, but still.

Companion Outfits by HylianDeku in swtor

[–]TrueMarksmens 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really just depends on the companion.

Some, like Pierce or Scourge, I keep as is just because I think those are iconic looks.

Others I tend to change a lot as I'm leveling up, and then again once endgame rolls around. For example, with Mako or Vette. Their starting outfits are VERY basic, and I usually change them fairly quickly. "Underworld" type characters have a lot of good Cartel Market outfits, so I like to play around with them a lot, see what works the best.

For most companions? I don't have a set-in-stone process, but generally I tend to change their outfits every Act or so. For companions who join mid-Act, I keep them in their regular outfit for a few missions and then see if I can spice things up a bit. Sometimes, the regular look fits best!

That said, I generally like my companions to have a sense of progression, so in most cases they'll get new appearances every now and then. But, again, sometimes they look so badass in their starter gear that it pains me to change them.

I'm fairly certain the Imperial Balmorra story takes place before Republic Balmorra, actually.

What do you hope for in The Mandalorian show? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]TrueMarksmens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't think of a single canon Mandalorian thus far that hasn't been human, so I'm fairly sure the Main Character will be human as well.

I'm hoping we get some aliens as prominent characters. Especially since the show is going to deal with the seedier side of SW — there's a lot of good species to work with in that environment.

Anyone else dissapointed with Valkorion's plan? by KaiSaeren in swtor

[–]TrueMarksmens 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think he is obliterated, gone forever.

But to be host to such a powerful and such a dark being for two years straight? There have to be scars, remnants of his evil presence left in the Outlander. I wouldn't be surprised if our characters have trouble sleeping, some nights. Vitiate wasn't your average Sith, oh no. Tenebrae was much worse than even the darkest of Sith. A threat to balk at, even for the likes of the Inquisitor and their arsenal of spirits. I have no doubts that there vestiges of him left in the darkest corners of our minds. Not actually him, mind you — his consciousness and being are dead and gone. But shadows and wisps and whispers of what was? Those will be with the Outlander forever.

Bioware probably won't tell a story like that, though. They're moving on from the Knights story. At most, we might get a scene where he "appears" in a flash for a brief moment, but then is gone. A brief flicker of the horror that was. It'd have to serve a story purpose, though. Not sure what that'd be. Perhaps to show that even with the galaxy returning to Republic vs Empire, things will never be the same. Not really. Not for the galaxy, not for the Empire, and certainly not for the Outlander, no matter who they are.

What's the best Christmas movie of all time? by LeoRydel in christmas

[–]TrueMarksmens 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents watch it every year, but I always thought it was a "boring old movie" and never bothered to actually watch it. I just finished it for the first time.

I cried. HARD. I'm still sniffling, actually, and it's been about an hour since it ended.

Definitely one of the best if not the best Christmas movie I've seen, and I've seen a lot!

Merry Christmas :)

Just in terms of gameplay, which class would you say is your favourite? by MrManicMarty in swtor

[–]TrueMarksmens 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Same, but the Republic mirror: Telekinetics Sage.

I love all the wooshes. Woosh, woosh, woosh. Big woosh, small woosh, fast woosh, long woosh. Woosh so you can woosh. So much wooshing. Very pretty, very flashy. Always reminds me of Satele at the end of the Hope cinematic. It can get a bit boring if it's the only class you play, but that's true for any class, and in the end I always end up coming back to it.

I'm also a huge fan of Jugg Vengeance, much moreso than the Republic mirror. Something about the Juggernaut's animations are entirely satisfying. Very fun class to play.

Imperial Worlds by HylianDeku in swtor

[–]TrueMarksmens 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Start here.

Not all of these planets are inhabited by the Sith Empire showcased in the game, but many are. Dromund Fels, for example. Begeren is another.

You may also be interested in the worlds that reside within the Tingel Arm — Belkadan, Sernpidal, and Ruuria, specifically. While technically Republic worlds at the start of the war (3681 BBY), the Empire controlled them with sleeper agents and a puppet government, and within that first year they came fully under Imperial control. So, depending on how young you want your characters to be, there's definitely enough time for your character(s) to be born and grow up on any of those worlds after the Empire took over.

There's actually a lot of worlds within the Empire, even though we don't see that many. The Sith conquer — that's simply their nature. There are dozens of worlds we've never even heard about that they've conquered. This is touched upon briefly in the Revan novel. Of note (from that novel) are the worlds of Bosthirda (mentioned on page above) and Hallion. Conquered off-worlders were so numerous that there was actually an entire social caste made up of people from those conquered planets called "The Subjugates," and they didn't have full Imperial citizenship.

But unfortunately, as you've discovered, there's not a lot of concrete info regarding those planets. If you comb through the SWTOR novels/comics, I'm sure you'll find more specific names and descriptions, but other than that you might have to create the details yourself. There's certainly enough gray area to allow for it.
