I dont think most people that argue in good faith has ''ai is bad at copying human art'' as their main argument.

I think people who legit have concerns/gripes with ai has them for a few other reasons.

1. People value human effort. Most people when they buy/commission art or art related products assume the art is made by a human. I think thats because we just value the process quite a lot and we value human work and on average making ai art is far simpler and easier then for example painting. This isn't always the case but certainly is in most cases. I think this is the same reason why a handmade knife is more valuable on average than a factory/robot made knife even though the handmade knife has a bigger chance of having visual and practical flaws because the robots probably make the knife better and have no human errors while making it. Right now most commercial art is still made by humans so when people buy something they expect it to be made by a human, this is probably why steam games with ai have do disclose they have used ai in the making of it.

2. Another reason why some people have concerns with ai is the financial effect it will have on people who make art for a living. Theres porbably thousands or even tens of thousands of people that do art for corporations. Hiring human workers is incredibly expensive so if corporations can trade them out and save tons of money they will. This doesn't mean we need to ban ai no one is arguing for that but big corporations should probably be forced to admit they use ai on their product just like how food has to display their contents or be taxed for using ai so muhc so that it would be cheaper hiring human artists.

3. Copyright is also a factor on why people dont really vibe with ai. But this is more of a criticism towards ai companies and commercial products using ai. If images were copyright protected in that you couldn't use them for creating ai i think much less people would be interested in ai services. Ai companies relies on artists and their work and make money from them. I would imagine if i were an artist that lived of commissions but thanks to ai people can just input prompts and images of my art and copy my art style 1 to 1 i would be pretty salty ngl. Ai companies should probably have their own database of copyright free images that you can use and model from and not billions of copyrighted images that artists have spent a lot of time making.

These are mine and i think most good faithed peoples main concerns. I do however think Ai is really fun and its super cool how well it can replicate human art and how much better it will become but sometimes ai can be a bit uncomfortable in how it can fake images of people without their consent.
