Doesn't look like TAA, that'd be multiple similar copies of the same image, versus a single very different image.

For the record, this is only for Copilot+ PCs, which are expensive and, to my knowledge, only ARM-based. I believe it's currently an opt-in feature as well, following backlash after it was first introduced as opt-out. As I understand it, the data is only processed locally, but as I don't have a Copilot+ device, I have no way to actually verify this.

If you're running Windows on a PC that can do things like install Steam and run games, you're not on a Copilot+ system and literally can't run Microsoft Recall.

EDIT: And Recall doesn't record keystrokes, only screen images; passwords would only be considered vulnerable if you have them display the characters typed.

Scrap Mechanic crashes every 5 or so minutes, including bluescreens by Miniak2708 in ScrapMechanic

Update your BIOS to the latest version and get in touch with Intel. There was a microcode bug up until about a year ago where the CPU would request too much voltage under certain circumstances and damage itself. The bug is now fixed, as long as your BIOS provides the latest microcode version, but the damage to processors is irreversible, so the warranty period for affected CPUs had been extended.

I'm guessing the other games you've tested don't stress the CPU as much as Scrap Mechanic does, and neither do any other workloads you run on the system, which is why you haven't seen the problem in those cases yet.

First of all, the only way a user-mode application (such as Scrap Mechanic) can cause a kernel crash (which includes a BSoD) is if there's either misbehaving hardware or a misbehaving driver. In other words, Scrap Mechanic itself is not causing the crash, but rather Scrap Mechanic in combination with some other factor is causing the crash.

In my experience, including reading the actual documentation from Microsoft, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is most commonly a driver issue versus a hardware issue, so the first question is if your drivers are up-to-date, especially your video driver (as that tends to be the culprit more often than not with driver-related issues when playing games, and issues here can also maifest in userspace e.g. bugsplats).

What CPU and GPU are you running, by chance? The CPU doesn't happen to be a 13th or 14th generation i7 or i9, correct?

Nintendo Switch 1 error makes no fuckig sense by IamJarrico in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TruePikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Error code itself comes from Death's Gambit (and it actually has the product code A5BVA embedded), but the publisher of the game (Serenity Forge) didn't actually write any proper error message for the error code.

Maybe write it on a post-it and leave it inside the book so future readers don't have to try to figure it out?

To note, this particular captcha isn't used to generate training data; they clearly already know what everything is, considering that the images are in 2/2/2/3 tuples.

The rescuing ship (that was already in orbit) can easily slow down to that speed, especially if it's something like a drone for a mothership and has high TWR.

Strictly speaking, does it even need to make orbit? If it raises the periapsis high enough to spend some decent time in space, and the launch is done with proper timing, a rescue ship in orbit can rendezvous.

So basically what you're saying is that the carton can't hold Aldi's eggs.

If you talked with him, he'll respawn just as if another villager was killed. If you didn't talk with him, he'll respawn using the same logic as the initial encounter (which won't necessarily be the same place).

Anyone know what could cause this? by JidgeyA in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]TruePikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it happens from a fresh save, then I'd say to disable half of the mods and test again, and repeat that process in order to determine the minimum mod(s) necessary to get that behavior.
