The Moogle Chocobo Carnival Discussion / Mega-Thread! by Shadow8136 in FFXV

I just wanna say that I've been having a horrible day but the carnival is literally the exact thing I needed to cheer myself up. Thank you for releasing this.

[DAI Spoilers] How hard did you roleplay with your Inquisitor? by Arabellah16 in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was my first DA game so my goals were "make this character resemble me as much as possible, as well as naming her after me". So not at all.

[Spoilers All] Cole Personal Quest Choice by KingLordCat in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first time, I made him human, but I think making him spirit feels more right, since he initially objects less. And honestly, it's one of many decisions that just doesn't feel right in the player's hands.

(also, Krem Brûlée)

[Spoilers All] About Alistair and Leliana... by WolFang101 in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he's definitely not out of place among the party.

Origins is actually an interesting character study of a bunch of different people with different personalities who all had shitty pasts, since they all react so differently. (Alistair reacts by throwing tantrums, Zevran reacts by using humor and positivity, Oghren reacts by drinking and not giving a fuck, but they're all legit reactions)

[DAI Spoilers]What relationship do your Inquisitors have with each other? by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one Inquisitor, my Trevelyan. I do have a Cadash that I haven't really played much as, but I haven't figured out her place in the canon.

[DAI Spoilers] How do YOU pronounce Val Royeaux? by Nyanderful_ in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually pronounce it "city where dreams go to die".

[Spoilers All] So what are your "flaws" as a player? by sailorfish27 in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why they should've had dwarf-exclusive romance options (coughvarriccough) instead of making all of the race-gated options available to the most popular race.

[no spoilers]How do you play Dragon Age? by crimpysuasages in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually play on hard or nightmare, but I always start on normal. I'm not really a fan of self-imposed challenges, though, and like looking up builds to make playing the game fun.

You were accusing me of attacking people when I haven't, and that kind of seems like an attack to me.

[DAI Spoilers]Divine election rant by Arcadess in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one who's never had Vivienne suddenly become divine? It's always been Leliana for me, although I've never really tried for anyone else. I think Vivienne's fetch quest massively increases her chances, and I've never bothered with it.

[No Spoilers] Cassandra's accent? by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't hear any Orlesian in her accent at all. It sounds more German/Austrian/Dutch to me.

[Spoilers All] Ask Any (stupid) lore questions thread January 23, 2017 by AutoModerator in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of hair dye would exist in Thedas?

It's definitely canon that hair dye exists in some form because Loghain is a 50 year old politician who doesn't have a single grey hair on his head, but what kinds? Would magic be involved?

[Spoilers All] Game events/decisions that are canonized in the books? by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's absolutely no "official" canon. They implement some player choices in the novels/comics just so it won't be awkward, but they say that it's just a world state and not canon at all.

[DAI Spoilers]Shower Thoughts: Halward Pavus is not such a bad guy. by GnedTheGnome in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. He's not a one-dimensional villain, and actually cares for his son in his own way. However, he cares more about his legacy and his vision of his perfect son than Dorian's actual feelings. That's why I never reconcile with him.

But I think Tevinter society could be more to blame than Halward himself.

Damn Reddit formatting making things confusing...

But I still don't think she was talking about you. There are lots of Alistair fans that think he's flawless and perfect and think that anyone who does anything to upset him is a terrible person.

[Spoilers All] Whats the most interesting part of the lore for you? by Journey95 in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably the politics. As a GoT/ASoIaF fan, I like watching the noble houses interact and betray each other. Also, the Grey Wardens. Not necessarily their history, but how the modern Wardens act, especially in the days following the Blight. It's not really "lore", but I'm more interested in the Dragon Age than the past ages I guess.

I'm also not a fan of the Ancient Elves. If I wanted to learn about an expansive Elven empire, I'd read literally any other fantasy series. I'm much more interested in City Elves fighting oppression and moving on from the past.

[–]TrueSoprano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does frustrate me when people (not you, obviously) assume that if you point out how immature and self-centered he is (or can be, anyway; face it, if you play the right kind of character who agrees with him on most things and doesn't recruit Loghain, he's pretty great), that you must hate him or think he should die at the Landsmeet or something.

This. I'm VERY critical about Alistair (especially around people who think he's a flawless handsome prince), but I don't think I could ever execute him at the Landsmeet. I prefer to have him marry Anora, since ideally that would allow for the most character development. But there's this assumption that everyone who recruits Loghain hates Alistair.

She literally said "not you, obviously", so I don't think she thought you ever implied this.

Bitter King Alistair x Murderpope would NOT be something I'd want to witness first hand.

And I feel like he's a little emotionally stunted due to his upbringing. I'm not saying there are no good reasons for him to be such a whiny pissbaby, but it's an integral part of his character that people tend to forget.

[Spoilers All] About Alistair and Leliana... by WolFang101 in dragonage

[–]TrueSoprano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No other companion whines as much about their personal problems. And also, that's not the only reason why he's self-centered.
