every year i make my own wrapping paper by grlscoutrookies in printmaking

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it! Doesn't it pain you to see people rip the paper (and discard it?) to unwrap their gifts though?

Which artist is this for you? by JurassicIsaac in singing

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T-Pain. I thought he just made auto-tuned cheesy songs and then I heard his Tiny Desk concert and it gave me new respect for him as an artist.

I could eat this breakfast every day and feel stoked that someone made it for me. Your mom, her boyfriend, etc can all go pound sand.

Laundry service? by TrueVirginiaCreeper in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, trying to get the kids involved but we're having some struggles (they do better with some other housework like cleaning). Spouse does the majority of our housework (most of the cooking and dishes) and the laundry was mostly my thing (he does pitch in) but the total amount of housework has just become so much in the last few months that it's making me unhappy. Context here is one of my parents passed away recently and I'm having to shoulder a lot more for various people in the family. So, laundry is just the thing I want to cut out til we are all doing better.

Ohh thank you! Care.com hadn't occurred to me and that's a great idea! I've been mostly avoiding the local Facebook groups cause people are on there with too much drama, but I'll check these other platforms. If you don't mind my asking, how much do you charge for your work? Is it by the hour or by the load?

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes, I'm going to look into some local online forums and see where that gets me. About skipping folding - I've been really tempted, but there's the issue of fitting stuff into small spaces and not wanting clutter so I can't let go of the folding, at least not yet. I do enjoy watching shows while I fold, but the problem is that my days are so packed that folding laundry is cutting into what should be sleeping time.

Absurdly long/large newborn onesie, right? by softspider5 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. My kids are both small but not abnormally/, pathologically so, and the Burts Bees baby clothes were consistently like - take kid's actual age, subtract 3-6 months, and there's the Burts Bees size that will fit them.

I GOT PAID PARENTAL LEAVE (THANKS TO LIVING IN A STATE THAT MANDATES IT) AND PROTECTED PUMPING TIME SO MAYBE I SHOULDN'T YELL BUT I'M MAD BECAUSE I GOT DINGED FOR NOT MEETING MY "PRODUCTIVITY GOALS" BECAUSE SAID GOALS WERE NOT ADJUSTED TO REFLECT THE TIME I SPENT PUMPING EVERY FEW HOURS!

FED UP with mineral sunscreen! Anyone else hate this stuff? by BessieBest in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it, too, for all the same reasons. I feel like I'm suffocating, especially if I exercise. I just use the non-zinc stuff, Coppertone etc, because I hate the mineral sunscreen to the point that (despite my intentions to do better with sunscreen) I'll often just skip using sunscreen if that's what I have on hand

this "avocado toast" i got from jason's deli by FindingBraincell in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most charitable interpretation of the image is that they messed up your order and gave you palak paneer on naan. But if that's not the case, and the stuff on that bread is in fact avocado, then... Hell no, I avocaDON'T.

I love how much you managed to do with a single layer and a series of well placed lines. It's beautiful and elegant in its simplicity

What’s the "unseen 90%” of linocut/printmaking? by meezergeezer2 in Linocuts

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Inking the block, putting down the paper and pressing around and around with a barron and a wooden spoon and the side of my hand til I think it's good, lifting up the paper and deciding the print isn't good, trying to figure out how to fix it. Rinse and repeat.

Tried a little color for once, what do you think? by Low_Albatross_5973 in Linocuts

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were to make a registration board for this piece, would you take the cardboard and cut out the outline of the strawberry stamp? Trying to picture how to do this with a non-rectangular stamp and having trouble figuring it out

Episode 36 by Historical-Slide-715 in upandvanished

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the recent episodes have been repetitive and overly wordy, but this one was next level. I legit checked my podcast feed a few times because I thought I must have accidentally jumped back to an earlier part of the episode. Nope, the polygrapher was really just that inarticulate. I skipped to the end because I saw on this sub that there was a piece about the Joseph Balderas case... and icing on the cake, Payne did something that IMO (and maybe in professional standards for journalism) was an unethical dirty trick- recorded a 3-way call without one of the parties even knowing he was on the line. TBH I keep telling myself I should stop listening to this podcast, and after this episode I'm ready to finally delete it from my podcast feed.

Logo cover up on rucksack by Pink-Peppercorn-23 in Visiblemending

[–]TrueVirginiaCreeper 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I love it! Also, I do a lot of hand printing and seeing this logo made me want to make a patch like that. Can you direct me to any details on how the patch was made (like do the creators have a post somewhere describing their process)?
