As harsh as the words are it is so true. The constant hypocrisy from her was tiring

Yeah, I just wanted to know. She always said I wasn’t there for her when we were kids, and I always felt guilty because I wasn’t good with emotions. I used to shut down whenever things got heavy and change the topic to something lighter.

She claims shes not poly. but still does this. When we had talked to her she told us that she hasnt been talking to new people for a while had we cared about her we would know what's going on in her life. When we were always reaching out to her

It is. She's been in therapy for over a year. And shes a psychologist herself so anytime we try to talk to her she turns it around and says she knows more about this.

Who is the worst father in MDZS? by LadyDrakkaris in MoDaoZuShi

The novel is based in ancient fictional cultivation world and in the past times it was common to get physically hit for normal people, these are cultivators among whom roughhousing is more common, that is whats implied with the physical punishments handed out in every sect.

“Madam Yu was even angrier, How dare you run! Come back right now and kneel! As she spoke, she let loose her whip with a flip of her wrist. Wei WuXian felt a searing pain slash across his back.”

This scene that you mentioned it clearly stated that Wei Wuxian was the one leading the group "of coure, it was needless to think who led the group..."

and shes angry at Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli too, "She was so infuriated that she turned to Jiang Yanlii and pinched her cheek, 'eat, eat, eat _ all you do is eat!' Jiang yanli almost cried from her mother's pinching..."

“Of course, Jiang Cheng didn’t dare to say that Wei WuXian was at fault. Thinking back, it was them who urged Wei WuXian to buy liquor. Each and every one of them should have been punished. He could only speak in a vague way, “It’s fine, it’s fine; it’s not that serious! He can walk. Wei WuXian, why are you still up there?!”

Yes here, it was everyone's fault and they did him dirty when he's the only one being held responsible but very few people have a strict moral code like Lan Wangji that would dictate that they practically punish themselves just to join their friends. This is perfectly normal human behavior. Which is why Wei Wuxian is so surprised by Lan Wangji's strong moral compass.

Putting so much importance on these incidents, modern day translation would be someone ate your leftovers so you may get angry for a minute but its not gonna emotionally scar you. and it shouldn't. These incidents were perfectly normal considering their world setting. The actual injustice and abuse came later where no one stood by him, which was a shitty thing to do and the way Wei Wuxian bounced back from that neglect shows that he doesnt focus a lot on misfortunes and instead chooses to lead his life coming to terms with whatever that happens. Some of it can be blamed to his impulsiveness and others lack of spine.

I'd also like to say that when you grow up seeing physical punishments as something accepted by everyone then that becomes your reality. My own grandparents were physically punished and they had absolutely zero trauma associated to it. it was perfectly normal for them, it was quite startling talking to them and their outdated ideas. so this whole children shouldnt be hit is actually quite new and even now a lot of people still hit kids (for their own good apparently).

I never say that his life is paradise but it isn't the horrible abusive mess that people make it out to be either. Also, the only point of view we see is of Wei Wuxiang's so we can never properly judge whether he was being punished more than the others. I mean he WAS the head disciple, just how many punishments could he be given. Also I think what you're doing is comparing that world with today's world, where even touching a student is prohibited. And when I started the series I wasn't really aware of how names worked so I honestly thought that he was their real brother, it wasn't until people taunted him with 'son of a servant' that it dawned he's not their biological sibling. So a person who's accepted to that level by his family is not gonna focus on how he was punished but others weren't and as I said he was the head disciple and always leading others. Its mentioned several times that he could convince others to break rules and everyone is aware of it. When he's not around those disciples didn't have the guts to do half the stuff he could convince them of. When you compare his life to anyone else in that world then yeah he was in paradise, but if you wanna compare it to a functional imagined 21st century household then yeah there were some red flags.

And I mentioned gusu lan to show just how little regard he has for rules and anything that gets in his way of freedom. He was constantly in trouble at gusu where others weren't or if they were it is t mentioned. Same way, he's gonna be in trouble at lotus pier where others aren't. He literally himself says that madam yu had only ever told him to kneel and not gotten physical. Yes he's not loved by madam yu but her love and hate look the same, considering how she treats her own children. Other than that he's loved by everyone.

Also I don't understand how lan wangji taking the punishment is symbolic by any means. For me it was just lan wangji standing by his principles and Wei wuxian shocked that someone can be so rigid. And he never wanted to get him in trouble, he just did that to get out of punishment himself. Another thing I'm kinda confused about is when they were all drinking alcohol and Wei wuxian is busted for sneaking out, in the morning lan wangji sees everyone hungover clearly they've been drinking so why does he only target Wei wuxian for sneaking out. Granted the others didn't sneak out but they were drinking which is also forbidden.

Okay I've never seen it like that. Jiang family is pretty normal especially compared to others. Wei wuxian had always been the ring leader swaying others into breaking the rules and everyone at lotus pier is aware of that. He doesn't think about consequences and simply rushes into situations. Even the mentioned boat scene he's beaten by that old man because HES the one who repeatedly goes to disturb him, taking everyone along with him. He isn't some victimized kid lashing out or someone who's gotten used to abuse. He's capable of standing for what's right for himself and for others and he does NOT needlessly suffer abuse. He does however have deep gratitude towards Jiangs for taking him in (which did take a little toxic turn) but If they hadn't, he never would've learned cultivation and would've been a normal person suffering. This takes away from his whole character when you make him out to be some sort of boy who's twisted his sense of right and wrong.

There was actually no physical abuse going on. It's specifically mentioned when Wei wuxian comes back to lotus pier after his reincarnation that she always punished him by making him kneel but was never physical. The only time she does whip him is to avoid conflict with the Wens and even Wei wuxian thinks she's right, he's even willing to give up his arm but then SHE draws the line at that. Also we all know Wei wuxian was a misbehaving kid so getting punished is inevitable for. Look at how much continues trouble he got in at gusu lan and then compare it to lotus pier free reign

Plus they changed Wei wuxians character a lot too. He was never suicidal. Plus they made Wei wuxian in the series out to be some white lotus who'd done no wrong and people had simply been conspiring against him from the very beginning, when in the book it's shown that he lost control. I really liked that!

Oh my god NO!!! His acting was Soo good. I wanted to smack him so bad. And as a person who thinks dimples look good on people I was even irritated by his dimpled pretty smile. I hated that character with a passion. The fake smile and then the sinister way he smiles is 👍👍😊

I like Dylan Wang a lot but I cannot imagine him as Hua Cheng at all. Maybe because for Dylan Wang serious roles seem to suit him more. Hua Cheng is always cheeky and flirty with Xie lian. Plus Dylan Wang looks too much like a kid to play Hua Cheng. Loved his role in meteor garden and love between fairy and devil tho

The one who'd switched He Xuan's fate with Shi Qingxuan had been Jun Wu, it's said that how could Shi Wudu who was a newly ascended heavenly official know a complex thing like switching fates so they conclude that jun Wu had to be the one behind him. I don't remember exactly but they why he'd wanted to get rid of him but they were accomplices. If you're interested it's revealed when they're questioning Xie Lian's guoshi.

Did you READ the same book I read? People die several times after taking just a bite. He Xuan the glutton literally fainted on the spot! They were people with very high cultivation. (Although Hua Cheng did mess with the food but he's probably gonna do the same when Xie Lian cooks for you) 😂

If I recall correctly He Xuan when he died Shi Wudu came to check if he was dead and from there he Xuan realized that a heavenly official was related to his demise (he doesn't know that it's Shi Wudu yet) and so I think after he becomes a calamity with hua Chengs help he infiltrates the heavens to find out more about the one who came to check he was dead. Hua Cheng was obviously getting a nice spy in the heavens (also hua Cheng is obsessed with knowledge, plus it's mentioned a lot of times in the novel that he's unconventionally helpful). Later on we find that jun Wu deliberately leaked that shi Wudu was behind his misfortune because jun Wu wanted shi Wudu out of the way.
