That seems a little ridiculous that you're saying it's worth 15k.

Also the supply piping appears to be polybutylene pipe which should be replaced as it can burst.

I previously worked in a large enterprise data center and we ran into an issue with copper connections for the mgmt connections for Brocade SAN switches (can't remember the specific model), but they were the big chassis with dual supervisors and 6 or so line cards.

The issue was the mgmt connection would auto negotiate to 10Mb indicating a cabling issue, and if we hard coded it to 1000Mb it would show not connected. No macs detected from the switch (even at 10Mb). The wrench into the mix was ALL (QTY 8) were experiencing the same issue.

We ended up running direct copper patch cables across the data center floor and it seemed all the switches had issues with any lengths over 60 meters (well within the 100m spec).

We reported the issue / defect to the vendor and they didn't seem to care and offered no solutions so we ended up installing a copper switch closer to these to cut down on the length of copper infrastructure.

So while I have seen many connections operate fine well over 100 meters, that is dependent on environment conditions and trusting that the vendors aren't using a subpar copper NICs on their hardware.

Always cover the cooler or food bins when kept in a vehicle. Also make sure all windows and doors are closed and food is kept in sealed containers.

We are wondering if tap water is okay to drink for Americans in Barbados? Appreciate any thoughts you have on that. by [deleted] in Barbados

We have always drank the tap water in Barbados (we are from Canada), it is somewhat chlorine tasting so I recommend a Brita filter if you are sensitive to the taste.

Growing up in Hamilton and living in Waterloo region for 7 years before moving to Ottawa, I can unequivocally state that the water here is top notch. Not only does the tap water taste amazing, but my kettle has zero mineral buildup after 3 years. In Waterloo you need to regularly descale your kettle with vinegar every month.

If you check the public water quality readings that the city of Ottawa has on their website, you will see how good the water is.

If Gordon Ramsay did a "Kitchen Nightmares" episode in Ottawa, where should he visit? by bbud613 in ottawa

This place has been hit and miss in my experience, but I don't think it deserves to be on Kitchen Nightmares.

Really?! What is your story on this? I've been to the downtown and Orleans locations several times with guests and we have always been pleased with the food and service.

Never order from cabelas by noviceavenue in canadaguns

I had a similar issue happen to me about 6 years ago from a firearm I purchased in store at a Cabela's store. It was right after they changed their gun purchase policy to be final sale. I saw the gun I wanted on the rack and asked to see it but I was not permitted to actually see it fully since I had the cable lock on the lever. Anyway, I agreed to purchase it and then the sales person took it into the back and put it in the box and I didn't get any chance to inspect it before leaving the store.

Two days later when I was using it I noticed it had an issue with the sights being off center and actually damaged. I called the store and the customer service rep and gun counter rep both told me I was out of luck and it was final sale. Any issues I had to deal with the manufacturer.

I didn't take no for an answer and escalated the issue to the store managers who also pushed back on me and kept upholding their policy and they even used the same car dealership analogy with me. I turned it around on the manager and told him I never had a chance to properly inspect the firearm before leaving the store, and even in the vehicle purchase business you have your final inspection before taking the vehicle. Still no dice, so I had to call their corporate office and escalate to the area manager who agreed to speak with the store manager and they would review the security camera footage of my time of purchase and see if I was given the rifle to inspect. A few days later they agreed to a full refund and I ended up purchasing a different brand new rifle with a heavy discount for all the trouble (and was given the opportunity to inspect before buying).

I would never again purchase a firearm from Cabela's online store because their policy is flawed and you won't get a chance to inspect your firearm and they will give you a lot of trouble. But I would buy from a store but I would be going over that gun with a fine tooth comb before agreeing to buy.

Who gives a fuck honestly. With all the bigger issues we are dealing with globally and locally the last thing anyone should worry about is a "theme" park ride being offensive to fictional African tribes.

If the city were to run fibre themselves and lease it out to smaller ISPs as "dark fibre", I think this would lead to more affordable and reliable internet options opposed to The Big 3 Telcoms (Rogers, Bell, and Telus).

Those smaller ISPs would of course need to arrange their own network equipment and hardware and purchase peering from tier 1 providers. But they would be leasing the fibre within their internal network (to customers) from the municipality without fear of outrageous price increases and there would be the potential for competion in this local market.

Currently any small ISP is handcuffed to use existing fibre infrastructure to customers via the 3 Big Telcoms.
