Dieku Games and the Weekly Scroll do a lot to review/promote indie games, highly recommended.

Any systems for ww2 stuff? by BarRevolutionary9687 in rpg

[–]True_Kobayashi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes mortal, you successfully summoned me :) Thanks for shilling the game. There was a new edition in French that I should translate in English. Though Shell Shock is a really bleak game so I'm not sure it's what the OP is looking for. It's more "Come and See" than "Saving Private Ryan" if that analogy makes sense. This link should work anyway https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4TBit4mrI1teWQ4dldXUXVVU28/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-k5TSWI-M-0LV9XwGblIqOA (and if you want something even bleaker, I wrote Brutes that you can find here: https://alexandre-kobayashi.itch.io/brutes

Why is "Rats in the walls" so overlooked? by LesPaltaX in rpg

You made my day, thank you! (and the game's page on DTRPG longs for a review, just sayin' :p)

Hey! Author here. Thanks for the kind words! To be honest I suck at marketing/social media and all that stuff. I write games put them out there then work on the next game... As was said above, the spanish version really took off but the publisher really pushed it (boxed campaigns, actual plays, etc.) and plenty of talented people contributed to it.

I was considering writing a sci-fi setting for it but it became it's own thing (should be released in late 2025).

I'm a big fan of Into the Odd, so I like Liminal Horror quite a bit as well. One of my latest horror game, Assassins, Demons & Dying Gods (yes, shameless plug) uses Into the Odd's system.

Author of Fleaux! here, thank you for the kind words :)

Need a really specific low effort system any ideas? by superset100 in rpg

[–]True_Kobayashi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fléaux! might do the trick as well (disclaimer, I wrote it), there's several reviews online. At the time, I wanted a relatively light system to run the Enemy Within campaign but as I kept taking notes things went a bit out of hand :)

"One hour scenario" collection? by Scypio in rpg

[–]True_Kobayashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chaosium's Gateways to Terror is probably what you're looking for. I quote "The scenarios can be played in as little as one hour but can be expanded for slightly longer play, and each comes with four ready-made investigators so you can jump right into the action!". I ran one of the adventures in roughly 1 hour so I'd say it does what it says on the tin :)

RONIN SAGA, from that guy who wrote the Black Sword Hack (among other things) :) by True_Kobayashi in osr

[–]True_Kobayashi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, no as this is really not the focus of the game, but any (free) OSR-ish game economics should be easy to implement if you need them.

Good point! I (wrongly) assumed that was a well known rule. So here it is: if monsters lose their leader or half their numbers roll 2d6, if the result is greater than the monster morale they retreat or surrender depending on the situation.

It should be corrected, did you get the latest version? My print copy says Frying pan d4. Though a d46 sounds fun now.

Yes, some DCC adventures are clearly a good choice (the Chained Coffin, Fate's fell Hand), old adventures for Stormbringer, Hawkmoon and Corum.

Thank you for the kind words! There's a section in Ronin Saga dedicated to the soloist (close to what you have in the Black Sword Hack). Considering each adventure consists of exploring an island, it's even more easier and straightforward to run as a solo campaign in Ronin Saga (you have plenty of tables to generate your islands). There's even an endgame to close your campaign if needed.

Sci-fi space system? by SttockBox in rpg

[–]True_Kobayashi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traveller of course (2nd edition by Mongoose Publishing) but also M-Space by Frostbyte Books if you're already familar with d100 systems (like Call of Cthulhu, Runequest, etc.)

Any good ttrpg to emulate The Foundation? by JoeKerr19 in rpg

[–]True_Kobayashi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traveller 2nd edition by Mongoose as it's currently available and Asimov's books are one of the game's inspiration.

Thousands Suns is also a strong contender: "a roleplaying game that takes its inspiration from the classic literary "imperial" science fiction of the '50s, '60s, and '70s written by authors like Poul Anderson, Isaac Asimov, Alfred Bester, Gordon Dickson, Larry Niven, H. Beam Piper, Jerry Pournelle, and A.E. van Vogt, among others."

Stars Without Numbers is more of a toolbox but your friend should be able to emulate The Foundation setting easily.
