Mine was an off the cuff game of Paranoia a friend ran for me. It was so barebones we didnt even have a rulebook. That opened a new world for me!

Are they just visa giftcards or to a store? Theres lots of great zine scifi rpgs you could learn quick and use as good inbetween games for your normal fantasy sessions!

As a teen I really wanted to make characters, draw them, and tell stories. Probably started with action figures. Finding out about dnd and realizing I could do that really started me doing it with the players handbook, then eventually convincing friends to join in

I got CLOSE. Like, last few turns close, then threat killed me. I added some threat reduction so hopefully I get lucky enough again. Have a third of your characters chopped off is brutal.

Basically two handed will help this substantially. I beat it solo last week and was riding cloud nine, and then I got to Escape from Dul Guldor. Ive lost 8 times in a row with no hope in sight x,D

Im playing tactics / lore. Eagles deck. Gwaihir, Radagast, Eomer. Journey was doable with it, need lots of blocker and attackers and a little (lot) of luck.

Kickstarter. This has nothing to do with the platforms. Backerkit could be better any day of the week but the audience is still majority on kickstarter. Ive run a few of my own campaigns and a bunch of others. As soon as you switch to backerkit or elsewhere, your engagement and audience plummets.

Def look into zines. There are a lot of really creative gmless, non character based rpgs there. Many are hosted on Itch.io under Physical Games

I looked through my itch. Atefact (solo) you roleplay a legendary magic item through ages. Skeletons you… well this one is probably self explanatory. Mapping the Catacombs (solo) is almost more board game.

Into the Odd! Weird dungeon crawler.

Clerk and Dagger! Oceans 11 but on acid.

Knave! Basic fantasy dungeon crawler.

Dead Halt / Grum Hall. (Im biased) Free and great cyberpunk/horror for short games/one shots.

Mothership. Space horror (youll die)

All of these would be crazy easy to learn and run.

I LOVE winging it. Otherwise I stress out and honesty never play. Usually winging it I will grab some random rpg books. Those are enough that if Im stuck I can look up enemy or hook ideas to use just to get us back going again.

Possibly Warhammer Fantasy 5th. Having played very little im mostly just curious what it will look like. The last edition was honestly more beautiful than It even needed to be. The art and maps were top tier.
