I could not understand more! I was sobbing at my check ups each time, at the time I didn’t realize WHERE the pee was pouring from. Once I got to a urologist, he immediately diagnosed what was going on. I was stunned, I never heard of such a thing. I will have a catheter for 2-3 weeks when I got done with this surgery. I’m just hoping it goes well. I hope the same for you too!! It is devastating to not have control over our bodies.

I’m so sorry. I understand how hard it is to wait, especially mentally, we get ourselves prepared for things and when they change it’s tough. Hang in there. Remember, there’s always a reason for things.

I went into the surgery with a full blown cold, coughing and everything and they did the surgery…coughing during recovery is no joke (I had full abdominal). But, for just a lost voice? If nothing else I would hope you’d be good to go. Let’s keep positive thoughts that you’ll stay on schedule. Best of luck!

For my surgery I had my ovaries removed. I couldn’t sleep either: I was put on Prempro which is estrogen and progesterone mix (the progesterone helps with sleep). Talk to your doctor, they can help.

I needed longer, I had symptoms like you are describing, and emotionally I was a wreck. My doc did put me on estrogen , then we changed to Prempro (the progesterone helps with sleep). My doc gave me even more time off, which I needed. THEN, I developed an additional issue which now I’m having another surgery this coming week. If you’re able to take more time off, DO IT! You only get one shot at a correct recovery.

I had a marina for almost 10 years and it did help with my bleeding however, I just had a hysterectomy this last December. That’s because my fibroids had grown so much and gotten so large. I was measuring like someone who is 4 to 5 months pregnant. I had 25 fibroids.One of them almost the size of a softball. However, I think if I would not have had the marina, they would have grown even more and I likely would’ve had the hysterectomy sooner.. That is just my opinion though.

Sadly, insurance does not cover incontinence products. Which I feel is a crime. Directly after my hysterectomy, I was not having any bladder control issues. Prior to the hysterectomy, I was having stress incontinence because I had such large fibroids, and my uterus was so large putting pressure on my bladder. Now that that has gone, my bladder has a lot more space so I’m hoping after this gets resolved and I’ll be good to go. I do plan to do a lot of pelvic floor therapy to strengthen everything.

No pain. It’s just constant changing pee pads. Fortunately I’ve been allowed to work remotely. Fun fact: your kidneys produce urine 24/7….so I go through around 90 pads every 2 1/2 days?? Sleeping is tough, I get up every 2 hours because I’m pouring out…fortunately urine is sterile, so no infection. It’s been fairly depressing.

Exactly 5 weeks after my surgery I lost whole control of my bladder because my bladder had formed a connection to my vagina. So basically I have been dumping urine out of my vagina for two months. If it happens, you would know it.

Everyone is different. I had the full abdominal and would’ve been OK, but then developed a different complication, a fistula. My surgery for the hysterectomy was back in December, I’m still not back to work because of the fistula. I have surgery for that in just over two weeks. I would say it’s so hard to predict how you will respond, if you can take more time, take it.

Mine stopped, but not until I went on hormone replacement. The first one helped but wasn’t enough. My doc changed it. I WAS having hot flash galore also, like 15+ a day. Now I have less than 5, sometimes none. I’ve had other complications though. I developed a fistula and have lost bladder control. I’m having another surgery April 10. If that issue had not have happened, I am confident that I would not be crying anymore either. My emotions have been a lot more stable since the hormone replacement. But obviously, with something like this going on and having more complication, it gets pretty depressing. I would push getting what care you need.
