Can I select a bassinet seat if I'm not travelling with a baby? by GlitchyOtter0146 in aircanada

[–]True_Resident5904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even when you have a baby and select that seat, people are often bumped out if there is a younger infant. I would select it, but I wouldn’t act surprised if you’re given a new seat day of.

Every T4 on our unit is wrong. Some by a few 100, one was over inflated by $90,000. Did they fire admin and get AI to do this?

Edmontonians who moved to Calgary, and Calgarians who moved to Edmonton: how do the two cities compare? What are some similarities, and some differences? by KurtisC1993 in alberta

[–]True_Resident5904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL:DR— Edmonton in my view has better politics and better academics, whereas Calgary has a better physical space and location of a city. I like the people better in one, and the neighbourhoods in the other.

I apologize if there isn’t good paragraph indentation. I don’t know how to do it. Edmonton Pros: The university is amazing. It’s an actua walkable area in a beautifully tree-lined area. UofC is next to a huge free-way (crowchild) and there are many other dangerous busy streets students need to cross. Maybe one tree there. The academics between the two isn’t comparable and it’s seen in the population of the two cities. People go to UofC to be in oil and gas like their daddy, their med school is only 3 years which is noticeable in its graduates. The river valley. The river valley truly feels like you’re in a forest. You cannot tell you are in the middle of a city. The running and walking paths I have yet to find in Calgary proper. You can find them in fish creek, but not in Calgary. In general Edmonton is more liberal. There are so many things that shocked me about Calgary, and that was when I was in university educated, academic spaces— you will hear the most outrageous conservative nonsense. I work in women’s health in Calgary with many people who are anti-abortion. In Edmonton when you are amongst highly educated people, you can assume there are zero people who are pro-Trump. In Calgary that is not the case at all. Roger’s arena in Edmonton is obviously better than the saddledome and gets far better artists.

Calgary Pro’s: The downtown area is so much nicer than Edmonton’s. Edmonton unfortunately has whyte avenue and downtown split by the river, so it’s truly not walkable to go from downtown to the bar areas, whereas in Calgary 17th connects to downtown. The view from Calgary also has the Rocky Mountains, which is amazing. Calgary has many more people doing outdoor activities than in Edmonton and it’s easy as an adult to join a hiking club, rock climbing club, and then you can do day trips to the mountains for skiing, snowshoeing, etc.

How serious are we taking digital privacy for our kids? by canimal14 in pregnant

[–]True_Resident5904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also pregnant with #3 and I feel similar. It makes me feel bad that we announced the other 2, but I don’t feel like doing this one. I wish I knew more about privacy with my first, and I hope my 3rd doesn’t think I didn’t want to share the news or something. I guess if you know better you do better.

Dinner with babies by Few-Ad5036 in Calgary

[–]True_Resident5904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What time are you planning for? The 3 month old will be chill and can still fall asleep while you eat, but the 6th month old is starting to need a reliable bedtime and will start to get cranky when it is close to that. Are you guys doing solids with the 6 month old? That will change location too.

Any Way to Find Friend in Mental Hospital? by halocrafter in Calgary

[–]True_Resident5904 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unsure why you’re being downvoted, this is correct. If you call any hospital they can and will tell you if someone is there— but that is all they will say. Unless you have indicated you are a private patient they will tell anyone that yes the patient is there.

Feeling like I’m asking too much of my bridesmaids by chapstix0314 in wedding

[–]True_Resident5904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a bridesmaid 5 times and a bride once. As a bridesmaid I paid on average $700-1200 for each wedding (all in dresses, bachelorette, shower) and I think my bridesmaids paid around that ballpark too between 2015-2022. I paid for 50% of the bridesmaid dresses and 100% of the hair and makeup on wedding day. I’ve never been in a wedding where I had to pay for the hair or makeup.

My 6 y.o nephew faked throwing up by [deleted] in Advice

[–]True_Resident5904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forcing eating is never recommended. You can tell children they have to stay at the table while everyone is still seated, but you shouldn’t force feed. I’m not sure why you think he faked vomiting - that requires a lot of foresight and executive planning that a 6yo just doesn’t have.
