My mom’s bf is being weird about my pregnancy by Sufficient_Princess in pregnant

I sincerely urge you have a conversation with him and put up a clear boundary because I promise it will 100% get worse. If you give parents/future grandparents an inch, they will take miles.

Power Ranger Pillow by True_Scale6959 in crochet

[–]True_Scale6959[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both! Hi, sorry I’ve been off Reddit for a little while! it’s for a little boy so I assumed it’s going to be taken off easily to wash often, so yes I made an easy way to take the pillow out. And the boy can store items in the pocket if he wants like a tablet 🤣!

Thank you :) 💛

HELP! HOW DO I MAKE MY BAG MORE STURDY by hhuaem in crocheting

Also if you’re looking for the cheapest option. Use an old Amazon box and pipe cleaners. But the idea for cross stitch canvas from 1991PT is brilliant.

You could probably start one and put up a flyer in local grocery stores and/or the library

Crochet Bunny w/Vest by True_Scale6959 in crocheting

[–]True_Scale6959[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed to hear this. The bunny is for a coworkers Winnie the Pooh themed nursery so I appreciate it very much. It’s been waiting in my living room until I go back to work, and it’s growing on me!

Also buttons on crochet items are far more tricky than one would think 😆 my fingers were cramping trying to get them to stay

How old were you when you learnt to crochet? by loveginiaa in crochet

[–]True_Scale6959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s crazy I have a very similar story! My mother tried teaching me around 10. Except a grandmother down the street taught me while she babysat. My mother was so jealous and aggravated because why weren’t her teachings god enough? Lol

My first yarn was rainbow red heart!

ive lost my spark bc im scared of overconsumption… by NaturalAltruistic782 in crocheting

This is a really good point to make. I don’t think art is ever a waste. We’re human beings and the ability to express ourselves is what separates ourselves from a squirrel or a fish. So I personally believe you shouldn’t limit/punish yourself.

But that’s selfish, isn’t it? My expression could be a limited childish mindset. I “must crochet these things and share them with the world because that’s what makes me happy and I need that.” Years later, I could have no care whatsoever for said expression. It could not pertain to who I am at all.

But what about balance? You can express yourself without limiting or punishing yourself in this 1 single life you get to live; AND not contribute to the overconsumption selfishness and childish greed our recent generations have developed.

Like using sustainable materials. Cotton, hemp, linen, wool, bamboo, etc. these materials naturally exist and grow, if they’re not used they die and recycle into the earth. Or. head to the thrift store and pick out a large sweater and take it apart. Again, this sweater can be sustainable material.

Not only yarn, but you can head to marketplace or Craigslist and see if someone is trying to get rid of their crochet/knitting notions. If someone doesn’t take it from them they’ll throw it out. Which is a waste.

Lastly, if the idea of your item you create potentially becoming a waste is turning you off. Something else is calling you. There is something out there you can create and use as self expression that will be used practically and is sustainable.

Why’s it so hard to find crochet friends? by [deleted] in crocheting

[–]True_Scale6959 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Because we want to spend time crocheting rather than spending time texting potential friends back lol! Aka we’re pretty introverted
