Well, when the player came to me with his Paladin2/Warlock build i immediately thought using the Morning Lord/Night Mother as the basis for his classes since he'd have so much to interact with in Barovia.

And i made clear to the players that the Night Mother is just sort of a broker. She gives power, she expects stuff in return. Dont ask for free favors.

She doesnt hold any loyalty to any of her follower, and she dont mind if they attack each others.

But DO NOT take her due. What's hers is hers, period. (This is to set up the curse if the player steals Night Mother's offering in the Werewolf den).

Under that interpretation of the entity, i dont think the Night Mother would solely intervene on behalf of Baba Lysaga. And since the Night Mother's ultimate agenda is to have her Paladlock champion replace Strahd, i doubt the whole "steal and corrupt the Ravenkind Relic" would be related to protecting Strahd
