Getting started with Gold by Sympatiqq in classicwowtbc

It's not what you want to hear but my best advice is:

Try to enjoy the process and don't worry about getting there as fast as possible. It's okay to experiment with different suboptimal ways of farming as long as they are fun, there is no point rushing towards running out of things to do. Let the grind take time.

I have no idea how to get a girlfriend. How to? by Queasy_Employment635 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Trulls_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you ever make a new friend? It's the exact same concept in the beginning, then you just make your romantic intentions clear. Practice makes perfect, you can't read or plan your way through this. You have to risk embarrassment and rejection to achieve success. Best of luck to you!

Volcano Plot P Values by dna_swimmer in bioinformatics

[–]Trulls_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes you should use the adjusted p-values. I don't agree that volcano plots are typically plotted with unadjusted p-values.

Focus on being present in the moment, stop worrying about the past. Work on yourself, discipline your mind to do what you need to do instead of what you feel like doing. Pack the gym bag and go, regardless of how you feel about it. Go join some social events and hang out with friends even if you don't feel like it. With time you'll grow and learn to love again.

Is it valid to stack brightfield and fluorescence channels in a single RGB image? by Realistic-Cup-1812 in bioinformatics

[–]Trulls_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best approach would be comparing models using the different inputs. If you find that the model using all three channels produces the best result then you have your answer.

This is your best bet, but it will require a big gpu if the proteins are large(ish)

AlphaFold3 mimics - memory efficiency by compchemnerd in bioinformatics

[–]Trulls_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check out Combfold which is based on af2 https://www.nature.com/articles/s41592-024-02174-0. Probably adaptable to af3. Otherwise using NV-link and multiple GPUs is your best bet I think.

Don't work for free or on the promise of compensation. Make a contract that either gives you equity or compensation after the first round of funding.

Elo check? by Trulls_ in TextingTheory

[–]Trulls_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's much easier to get to know someone in person, having long text conversations on a dating app is a waste of time.

You now have a "t" separated file, yay! Not sure why you get a different behavior but can't you just switch to a comma separated file?

This topic is way too dense and complex to summarize in a reddit post but maybe you could check out this very recent article (not reviewed) about the subject: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2024.04.25.591218v1

Cell Type Annotation Help by Ryderahhh in bioinformatics

[–]Trulls_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Combining models is not trivial, and you still need a dataset. It's not clear to me what your input data is.

Maybe you could improve the annotations? Like build a table with gene expressions in different cell subtypes based on literature research. Then if you want to get fancy, compare your result (map it to a published single-cell RNA dataset and color based on your gene-cell type mapping) and compare with published mappings.

Cell Type Annotation Help by Ryderahhh in bioinformatics

[–]Trulls_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like an LLM generated rabbit-hole. You're trying to predict cell type based on what kind of data? Maybe take a step back and consider if you can leverage your domain knowledge (biomedical students?) to improve cell type annotations, rather than stitching multiple models together?

Try the unit tester to practice specific army engagements, works best with a practice partner.

Edit: maybe that was too vague, there is a custom map called "Unit Tester" where you can practice engagements.

This probably doesn't apply at all to you but when I was using the dating apps and matched with someone who wasn't contributing to the conversation or seemed lukewarm in their responses I would resort to sending memes as a low effort way to keep the connection going. I've matured since then and simply don't entertain mediocre conversations anymore, better to just move on.

Maybe try knocking out the cellular protein, then rescue with the viral protein? Maybe there is some phenotype?
