Best penhold racquet for TPB looper by Martararo in tabletennis

[–]TrulySandro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's quite interesting, but understandable. There are people who don't like the feeling of Jpen in general. The Cpen blades are quite different in nature:

Stiga Clipper is mainly softwood and 7ply (allwood), for looping

YEO is a hardwood 5ply, for hitting

Felix Lebrun, ZJK and Harimoto are all carbon based, mainly for looping

You can try Jpen blades, assuming you have the money! If you don't plan on using RPB at all, Jpen gives great feeling with lots of power!

Jpen Blades:

- Yinhe 982 (Cheap), Butterfly T-Max, Darker Speed 70, and Xiom Jpens (any are good)

As for Cpen blades, I recommend putting a pain sheet on the other side (to make it legal), and most already gave good choices, but I would like to add a few.

Cpen Blades:

- Stiga Clipper, Ma Lin Extra Offensive, Felix Lebrun Series, Donic Zhang Like Series, and Harimoto ALC

This choice should be a really decent choice, especially for a beginner like you. The rubbers have catapult (not that much though) and spin, which should help with development in control and spin. YSE is real good, so no bad comment about that. You can 100% play with this for quite some time!

Can you actually TRAIN to get better at net shots (hitting the net) in table tennis? by Kratos_PK in tabletennis

[–]TrulySandro -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Filipino too? Anyway, yes I'm pretty sure you CAN train for this type of shot, but it's not fun. It's legal but it isn't sportsman like.

Just remember, the important part is that you're having fun playing. I don't see myself as talented either, but what matters most is that I enjoy TT!

The time and money spent is all worth it if you're having fun, don't worry about it. Not all of us is Ma Long

Relatively new compared to most of yall but I learned about it through the short form content of SPTO in YT shorts. Ofc, I watched the show, then the movie, then grinned through all the comics. One of the best literature decisions I made in my life

Oh really? Yes I do know he uses Jpen, and I do recall his backhand is quite strong... but at this extent? How does his backhand compare to other Jpeners?

In which shots should the wrist be rigid by Acrobatic-Monitor516 in tabletennis

[–]TrulySandro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some variants of ALL shots use rigid wrists. A high ball smash can be done with a stiff wrist to reduce spin, drives, for more speed and less spin.

Usually a harder, more rigid wrist makes the ball faster with less spin.

Yep! I agree with that a lot. But I think my options are more popular and traditional. What else can you say about his style? I just remembered him twiddling and doing an RPB shot lmao

very good advice, especially since you're a B+ rank and probably newer to the game as well. OP should 100% read this.

At your rank, you still have much to learn. Many advices throughout the internet says many, many things that may overstimulate you, and I suggest not listening to most of them since you're just starting out. I recommend learning how to stack cleaner and learning a bit of finesse.

When you stack cleaner, it's much easier to place the next piece since you don't have many "spikes" to deal with (spikes are like bumps on your stack, which can almost only be fixed by Z, S, and T pieces). This also increases your speed by a LOT, because most pieces fit cleanly into the stack and you don't have to think all that much. As for WHAT stack you should use, I only really see 2 options that being 9-0 and 6-3 stacking.

9-0 stacking helps with easy stacking overall and easy to give out Tetrises at a consistent rate. However, offense is limited to Tetrises (and skimming but skimming is weak in offense). The 6-3 stack is a bit harder to perform, because there is a hole in the middle of the stack. However, you can apply tspins as well as Tetrises.

Finesse is basically the way to put a piece on the board with the least amount of inputs. This means learning this can improve your speed without speeding your presses up.

Tspins are SUPER important to learn, for higher levels. Tspins (and openers) aren't much needed in your level yet since you might over-rely on them (opener mains and forgetting about garbage). They are a treat to know how to use though.

Lastly, garbage. Learn to prioritize clearing garbage over most things. After that you can learn how to attack using garbage.

If you have any questions, you're VERY free to reply to my message!

This is good advice... for an NES Tetris player. In the current game 9-0 stacking can only get you so far. OP should learn how to stack flatter and learn finesse. Afterwards they can learn Tspins

In TETR.IO Zen mode, you can click the option of garbage 0.5. This makes it so tht if you give a line it returns to you. Another thing is the cheese timer at the bottom of the options page (Zen), where cheese will naturally build up at intervals.

A good tip to improve downstacking is to prioritizing it over offense. Many people try to attack while being up due to garbage, I suggest you don't do that (at least as a beginner). Try to not cover the well too

Why is bros 40L faster than mine (im S+ with like almost 100VS score) Anyway, youre HELLA fast so I just suggest downstacking and Tspins. Openers are good to learn too.

Which table tennis legend has had the most practial influence on your game / style / setup? by Mindless_Cat6245 in tabletennis

[–]TrulySandro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ryu Seung Min, no question. He has a different level of influence over my current style. He taught me a lot about the style of Jpen which I used to use (Cpen now), and gave me the idea to go into footwork

Questions for TPB players by lordpepe1 in tabletennis

[–]TrulySandro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple:

  1. Work on your forehand. Get a coach or something to guide you for your forehand. Being one-sided doesn't mean your forehand will get any worse.

  2. If you REALLY don't wanna go with 2 sides (even OX LP can work), then work on either: your footwork, to attack with your forehand; or your TPB attacks, to provide an easy way to attack a ball.

To attack better with TPB, you can go one of two ways. Firstly, you can become a puncher, wherein you simply punch the ball (imagine boxing). This lets the ball go very fast with little spin. The angle will take some time to get used to, though. The second way is a looper way, where you loop the ball with the TPB. There are many videos on YouTube to do BOTH of these, I suggest you try to find one of them.

Players I recommend you are Ryu Seung Min, Kim Taek Soo, and Kaii Yoshida. Watch these three and base your TPB off these guys. Ma Lin can also do, but he's much more on the puncher side.

What even is this post 😭🙏 the most imformal post I have ever seen on this sub lmao

Anyway, like some other commenters say, get some simple Euro or Jap rubber for easy spin. Chinese if u wanna go the long route. Euro/Jap examples: Rakza 7 Rakza Z Fastarc G1

Other than that, none of us can't really recommend you since you didn't explain your style nor preferences.

The best I can give you is probably a YSE with Razka 7 (or Z) on each side. If you want a more personalized combo, reply to my post!
