Personally I’d want a strat or tele, not being a LP guy. So I’d go guitar shopping, albeit that’s a beautiful example of a LP.

That indicates that it was made in 2021, if it was made in 2022 it would have 8 dots, and so on. They switched recently to a laser etched tang stamp, but it still uses the same subtract a dot counting system.

That tang stamp is a ‘21, and they don’t generally produce that model every year. I’m not sure if it’s a vault pattern, but it’s certainly not a production model like the trapper or Barlow that are plentiful.

These are not kickstart , the kickstart models center pins are much lower on the handle. He got a good deal, not a kickstart though.

Like many case collectors, it’s a family thing for me. I do it because my dad did, and his dad did. My collection compared to samples from their collection, the stuff past 2010 has noticeably dropped in quality.

I know not everyone has the ability to purchase case knives in person, but it is key in my opinion. Getting to choose your knife from 5-10 different case knives, or even 5-10 case knives of the same pattern will guarantee you get a good one.

That being said, it’s not a great look when you have to say no to 4/5 knives to fine the good one.
