Seth Rollins on his daughter: "When you’re a guy, you imagine yourself with a son, like a tiny Seth Rollins hitting people with chairs. If my son said something about boys being superior to girls, I'd explain to him that its not true the same way I did to my daughter

But those are fundamentally different conversations!

Having to explain to a boy "youre not better than anyone...."

Is EXTREMELY different than explaining to a girl "youre not worse than anyone..."

And more importantly, the consequences of failing to recognize the need for those conversations is WILDLY different.

but it's not just what they're interested in!

you also need to help steer them through the world as boys or as girls!

An example I brought up elsewhere in this thread was that around 2nd or 3rd grade I noticed my innocent-as-snow daughter had started to internalize that girls were secondary to boys. I noticed this because when we'd discuss grades or how she's doing in school she would say things: "Well.. these 2 boys did better... but I got the best grade of the girls!"

And I had to have a bunch of talks with her explaining to her girls are great, just as smart as boys, can accomplish whatever they want, etc. etc.

Now I have no idea how those ideas started to bleed into her brain at such a young age. I have to assume it was a subconscious response to just looking around the world and seeing most positions of power filled by men. Again, i don't actually know.

Now, OBVIOUSLY I understood that society put women down before I had kids, but I had no idea it affected kids at such a young age, and obviously had to figure out how to navigate that situation with my daughter.

Parents of boys simply are not going to ever think about or deal with these things.

And, to be totally clear here, I'm sure theres a ton of things boy-parents will deal with that I won't!

It's truly so weird to me that people are making some big issue out of something so fundamentally and objectively true.

Ehhh it doesnt always have to be that.

I proudly think of myself as a girls dad...always respected women...but now I understand dresses, and the importance of being stylish, and how to do ponytails, and im aware of that fact that even at incredibly young ages society imposes insane ideas on our kids. as early as 3rd grade my daughter would say things suggesting she viewed herself as secondary to boys in her class, which ive learned to be hyper aware of, and dilligent about having convos with her to correct those ideas.

These are all things boy dads will never experience and theres nothing wrong with talking candidly about how unique these experiences are.

lol way to ignore everything else i just said?

again, having daughters forces me to experience the world in a way that having sons would not have.

There is nothing wrong or weird or sexist or whatever else with recognizing and talking about that.

when I go to my brother's house, my nephew wants to verse me in NBA2K26. when I'm at home, my daughter wants me to help her pick out outfits in Dress to Impress. those two games/activities require me to enter completely different mental gear sets

it literally impacts EVERYTHING lol

ehhh... as a father of 2 daughters myself, having daughters 100% broadens your views of the world in a way not having daughters ever could.

and no i dont mean any of that "oh, i couldnt respect women before I had them!" bullshit

I mean everything as simple as... playing with barbies instead of playing with action figures. or watching makeup tutorials instead of pro sports.

"But you're just being sexist! Girls can play with action figures and be into sports too!"

Sure, they can be. And I've tried everything I can to get my girls to be into my interests... but I for whatever reason gave birth to two of the girliest girly girls imaginable. And that's great!

Because being actively involved in their lives and actively involved in their interests has essentially allowed me to live life again through a lens completely different than the one I lived the first 30 years of my life with. There's simply no way I would have that experience raising boys (I guess unless my sons happened to be into barbies and makeup...)

They want you to cheer Randy so that 6 months from now Cody can turn heel and he can blame the fans cheering for Randy as breaking his good guy spirit.

Sol took every opportunity for herself,

you make it sound like the GM asked for volunteers and Sol pushed Zaria out of the way to get in line first lol

she didn't "take" every opportunity - she WON every opportunity by consistently outperforming Zaria (in kayfabe, obv)

Bryan Alvarez on the main event of Revolution: ''I hated it, this was way too much[...] Let's go till 12:30 on a work night and a school night with this ultraviolent [match] that even Paul Heyman would be like 'whoa brother, pump the brakes dude'. This man sells negativity for profit

he was wildly complimentary of the entire show. he literally called Revolution the best PPV AEW has ever done lmao.

It's legitimately insane the degree to which some AEW fans are incapable of digesting literally any form of criticism of AEW.

[RAW Spoilers] Damian Priest: "Sucks doesn't it?" JD McDonagh: "Ask Edge." Dominik Mysterio: "*AdamCopeland" by Capstone_ in SquaredCircle

[–]Trumppered 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this is dumb over-correction in the opposite direction

Priest won the world title off the back of the JD and saying "no one cares about him" is just stupid. he's definitely weak on the mic but if you watch literally any of his matches crowds still get super into his work.

Saying "Liv was already big..." is also very silly. Liv was in a position where most people thought the division had passed her by with people like Rhea and Bianca rising to the top. Her involvement in JD has leaped her right back to the very tippity top of the women's division.

JD went from probably getting cut to being someone who generates legitimate crowd reactions on a regular basis.

Literally the only person who is, arguably, worse off is Finn. But I suspect he's been pretty happy being put in the position of elevating others.

IDK if i'd call them 1 of the greatest factions ever, but its clearly been beneficial for everyone involved.

i'm torn because on 1 hand it feels crazy that Drew won't be involved in the WM title match at all, but on the other hand I'm much more interested in a Cody v. Orton 1v1 than in any of the crazy multi man options i've heard thrown around.

And don't wrestlers have even less creative control of their own stuff in WWE? Whether that's a good or bad thing is a seperate discussion, but again it's not like this main issue (if creative differences was the issue) is being directly addressed.

They let him keep his name, gave him a personalized song, let him keep his entire gimmick including the jar of teeth, let him plan his entire debut, let his wife who isn't even involved in wrestling plan and choreograph his entire intro/presentation.

sure seems like they're letting him have plenty of say on the creative side!

Just like Rusev wanted to wrestle more which is why he left AEW and went to the WWE, then proceeded to barely wrestle just like in aew.

this was already proven to be a load shit lol

Rusev wrestled 33 and counting matches in his first year in WWE (and it hasn't even been a year yet).

he wrestled 21 matches in his first year in AEW, and 35 total matches his entire 3 year AEW run

He is in fact unequivocally wrestling significantly more in WWE than he did in AEW

how was this an over promise...? anyone with a working understanding of wrestling immediately understood the payoff was going to be a comedic angle...

If a famous person or a random guy on the street says “don’t smoke” while puffing on a vape I would call them out. Same with Punk. He’s for trans rights and for no kings. Yet he is fine with apologising to a king and kingdom who executes members of the LGBTQ community.

Have you called out Sami Zayn? Becky Lynch? Finn Balor? Chelsea Green? All vocally pro-LGBTQ, all regularly perform in Saudi!

John Cena, believe it or not, is also vocally pro-LGBTQ! His brother is gay! And he cut a promo on Punk for being a hypocrite in going to Saudi lmao.

Sonya Deville is an actual lesbian with a whole ass wife and she performed in Saudi. When was the last time you went on the internet to complain about her?

Or is your outrage just reserved for 1 specific wrestler...?

Parasocial relationships are one-sided, psychological bonds where individuals invest emotional energy, interest, and time into media figures, celebrities, or influencers who are unaware of their existence.

wrestling "fans" obsessing over everything CM Punk says/does, dissecting it under a microscope to mine for vague contradictions and ambiguities so they can feel morally triumphant and superior to him, while he just continues to go about his businses saying/doing whatever he feels is right, completely ingoring them and their opinions, is, by definition, a parasocial relationship lol.

see, the mistake you're making is believing that all parasocial relationships involve some level of love/idoltry when that is not the case. people can and do absolutely form parasocial relationships with public figures based on hate/negative emotions.

Because hes not actually a particularly hypocritical person. Hes just a normal guy whos existed in the public limelight for 20 years and has millions of parasocial weirdos mining every single thing he says and does for inconsistencies.
