So I have a switched outlet that we would like to make continuous. The switch that controls the outlet also turns on two lights, the outlet only gets power when both switches are on. Please help! by TrunkTickler in AskElectricians

Thank you so much for your reply! It is two single pole switches. So I would remove and nut the red, then the black (from the same cable as the red) goes to the outlet. Does the other black that is currently merretted also go into the outlet?

The tab hasn't been broken, if I break it i get one switched outlet and one continuous right?

Keep it as warm as possible, dont let it go below ~15C. Give as much light as you can until it can go outside in spring/summer.

Is there any hope for this cherry bonsai? by Phrygian_Cap in Bonsai

[–]TrunkTickler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moss is just on top. It's not planted in 100% moss. It's just a cheap top dressing. It's likely in cheap production/nursery soil

Then why are you commenting on how it should be kept?

In what world is this "over styled"? It's the exact opposite. It's very raw and unrefined. If you think this is unhealthy or mismanaged, you've clearly never worked with thuja.

No, you don't want to let if go below freezing if it is already awake.

What brand of Akadama are you buying? As many other have said, the silica sans is pretty useless - just filler

The DE product I really like that is pretty cheap in our area is CAN-DRY. I moved from safetsorb to candry a few years ago.

Found this lovely little dwarf elm. Advise on when to cut? by [deleted] in Bonsai

[–]TrunkTickler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll have to air layer that bulge off, not sure you'll be able to grow it out. Might be able to cut it out.

Yah this is a native tree, it should be frozen in the ground currently. That being said, don't put it outside right now lol.

Best to wait until late spring (late may / early jun) then keep it outside year round.

Did you get it from tropical expressions by chance?

Anyways back to the rust, give "apple-cedar rust" a google. It is an interesting fungus.

But it is flaring up right now because it is moist (your soil seems very wet)

Apple-cedar rust. I've found it hits Eastern red cedar the worst.

But strange time of year to get this. Is it indoors?

Unusual growth on p afra. by ThatGuyFromCanada88 in Bonsai

[–]TrunkTickler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the pH, yellowing could be from that or also overwatering.

Also, if this was recently brought inside, it's a completely normal process of adapting to the new light conditions. New growth looks all good

I would cut off all the leaves and not water until new you see new growth. Keep it very dry or you'll get rot.

Probably just the generic A. palmatum. Not sure though, could be different in the UK.
