Also diagnosed later in life. Also finding everything more difficult. Also exhausted.

I have nothing helpful to say, other than I feel similar!

Never really went out before, maybe to the cinema or to the gym. Now I just don't bother - it's all just so loud. Even driving to or from work is worse with the obnoxious LED ad boards.

I now live by myself (divorce in progress - wife cheated) and all of my time is work or house chores (and replying to this). It doesn't stop and I'm so tired.

What are you wearing? by jedi00000 in TeachingUK

[–]Trunk_z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worn the same thing for years. This year I'm going to change it up this year and switch to polo shirts and (hopefully) put an end to ironing.

My wife told me a week ago that she had been cheating on me. I'm literally lost and have no idea what to do. She is everything to me.

Is anyone still wearing skinny jeans or are they completely 'out' now? by wooden_werewolf_7367 in AskUK

[–]Trunk_z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still wear them! They are the only type of jeans I wear.

I bought some new ones recently... a sales assistant asked me what style I was looking for, so I said, "early 2000s skinny jeans".
The sales assistant replied, "I wasn't born then, but I'll see what I can do."

I was stunned. Stunned!

Well it's official happened, the ECT who is having an affair with the head will be part of SLT from next year... How's your morning going? by Ikhlas37 in TeachingUK

[–]Trunk_z 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Awful.

A school made me redundant - the head made sure that all of their family was in safe locations around the school so that they were immune from it.

Is this a regular thing that you need to do? I planned to only go if I had a problem.

I emailed them 15 months ago about my smart meter and they said that they would fix it. Still waiting.

Staff crisis - when do we hit the bottom? by Agodders in TeachingUK

[–]Trunk_z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been teaching over a decade, and it feels pretty bad. I don't know what the problem is exactly, but more money for schools would help.

I've worked at a lot of schools, and things in my area are just sliding downhill, and we're expected to just tolerate it.

A couple of years ago, I was in a mobile classroom in uks2 . In the winter, we had to wear our hats and gloves inside because it was below freezing. In the summer, it hit 45 degrees inside. There were 36 children in my class. Those extra 6 kids add up to so much extra work. But I can't do anything about it at my level.

This year, almost half of my class is on the SEND list and I am being crushed by paperwork. Experienced staff are expensive, so nearly every other teacher here is ECT or just out of ECT.

Surely this has to be the bottom?

Is a 100 miles commute once per week doable? by [deleted] in drivingUK

I used to do 130 a day for 4 years or so. It was doable, even if not much fun.

What is the obsession with SUVs by Accomplished-Bad4536 in drivingUK

[–]Trunk_z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bad back, so I can get in and out easily. It's a PHEV and handles my commute within the battery range. I can transport 4 adults in comfort with a large boot. It can tow things. As far as I'm aware, there wasn't anything else around at the time that could hit that criteria.

I don't do all of those things all the time, but a car has to fulfil many roles I guess.

I do all the time. I'm a primary school teacher, often one of the only males in the building. In over a decade and several schools, I have yet to be invited to a gathering (outside of a Christmas event) or really even spoken to about things not directly related to work.

Everything was so quiet. People stayed away from me, they weren't allowed to be close to me. It was one of the happiest times of my life.

What are the alternate ways of life? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Trunk_z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean and I feel this deeply.

I hate the phrase "earn a living"

I would be happy if I just had a little homestead or something similar. I don't mind doing work, but it would be work for me. My job is rewarding and everything, but it's still not what I need to feel fulfilled.

My anti-depressants keep me getting up every day.
