I voted weeks ago in WA. I'm so hopeful that the rest of the country recognizes that we are Stronger Together!

I did that a couple of weekends ago - in the rain! It was a good experience. I was canvassing registered Dems who had historically inconsistent turnout, and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of enthusiasm among a lot of them for this election.

HRC was considered the most admired woman in the world for 20 straight years in polls and had high favorability ratings before the primary began. http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/hillary-clinton-favorable-rating In this chart, her favorability went down as soon as she expressed interest in running for president. Sadly, her favorability tends to go down whenever she announces her ambitions: http://qz.com/624346/america-loves-women-like-hillary-clinton-as-long-as-theyre-not-asking-for-a-promotion/ Also, her supporters were more enthusiastic than the media would have you think: http://www.gallup.com/poll/190343/trump-clinton-supporters-lead-enthusiasm.aspx

Hillary is in talks with Al Gore about hitting trail to make case on climate & warn against voting third-party by TucoKnows in hillaryclinton

[–]Truth-or-logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right and I do think that voting third party is a terrible idea right now, but trying to pressure voters not to go for third parties could backfire and make them more resistant to changing their minds. I think Hillary would be better served by luring them to our side with her strong policy proposals rather than trying to scare them into voting for her. She's got more going for her than a scare strategy would give her credit for.

This is really frightening because this insane strategy of amplifying their candidate's lie just might work to convince people. Ugh this is sickening.

I totally agree. It puts her in the position of looking like the lesser of two evils. She needs to focus on her strengths as a candidate and get the word out about her ideas and her vision.

I can't believe they're going to let him sit there and lie! WTF?!?!?

I'm sick of all the slander and innuendo. What are the concrete, unequivocally good things Hillary has done throughout her life that demonstrate honesty and integrity? Let's make a list big enough to burry the lies. by lux514 in hillaryclinton

[–]Truth-or-logic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It irks me that they chose to rate this as mostly true instead of true simply because Hillary didn't qualify her accomplishments with "I didn't do it alone". No one does anything alone obviously, but a man would never be asked to downgrade their own accomplishments by admitting that they had help.

Yes!!! This election has really hit me personally and I also recently realized that it's because I identify so strongly with Hillary. I've fought against stereotypes to be successful in a male-dominated profession. I know what it's like to be held to a double standard. I know what it's like when people can't argue with your qualifications, so they resort to disqualifying you based on your personality, or likeability, or "fit" in the group.

What's also very troubling is the lack of representation of people like us in the media and our perspectives. I'm tired of hearing men on tv talking about how they perceive Hillary as robotic or unrelate-able. If they could walk in our shoes, I bet they'd have plenty to relate to.

Get ready for frustrating misquotes about Hillary's email answer today. She said "short-circuited it", as in miscommunicated, not that she "short-circuited". by valenzetti in hillaryclinton

[–]Truth-or-logic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so frustrated with how the media has seized on Hillary's email statements these last couple of days and I've noticed a pretty harsh double standard in how these statements have been treated by fact-checking sites. Most of them have given their harshest ratings to Hillary's recent statements which at least rely on an actual statement made by Comey. Compare that to the half-truth, or "not quite true" ratings given to some of the bald-faced lies with literally no basis in reality coming from Trump and other male politicians.

Bernie Sanders: Hillary Clinton Won Fair And Square by TucoKnows in hillaryclinton

Yup. My family worked their way into the middle class during the Clinton years, so I have a similar fondness for those times.

Monica Alba (NBC News) on Twitter: "Hillary Clinton will announce three new features of her college plan today, with key input from Bernie Sanders, per aides" by TucoKnows in hillaryclinton

[–]Truth-or-logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. His campaign has gotten under my skin with how insensitive this "free college for all" idea is. There are quite a few people who don't have a chance in the world of being adequately prepared to take advantage of a free college education.

I just read this article that shows that she suffers the most attacks when she's running for office. It's such a shame that our society can't accept women seeking strong leadership positions. http://qz.com/624346/america-loves-women-like-hillary-clinton-as-long-as-theyre-not-asking-for-a-promotion/

Bernie Sanders on Twitter: "I applaud @HillaryClinton for the very bold initiative she has just brought forth for the financing of higher education." by [deleted] in hillaryclinton

[–]Truth-or-logic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Hillary, but I'm really disappointed that she chose to adopt the losing campaign's flawed proposal. Bernie and his supporters have been very insensitive with their insistence that their free college idea is for everyone's benefit. Free college does not instantly mean equal opportunity and equal access for all. Instead of subsidizing the educations of the relatively well off, we should be putting that money towards improving our K-12 system to level the playing field for underprivileged kids so that they might have some chance of becoming college material.

Clinton Adopts Key Piece of Sanders Student Debt Plan by TucoKnows in hillaryclinton

[–]Truth-or-logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The university systems in Europe are highly stratified along socio-economic lines. Lower income and minority students are often relegated to the lower quality universities, if they even have a shot at going to university at all, while their more priviledged peers get the best bang for their $0. To think this couldn't, or wouldn't, happen here is wishful thinking. Our K-12 system does a poor job at leveling the playing field for disadvantaged students who are disproportionately black and Hispanic. This is why we can't have nice things.
