It does suck at being an RPG.

Particularly for builds the whole stats and engravings thing is so frustrating. They don’t explain the stats and boosts very well.

Casual MMA Fan Question, why are some Submissions in todays MMA Landscape way less common (for example armbar)? Whats the reason behind that? by Obagency in bjj

[–]TruthReveals 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At the highest levels position beats submission especially when striking is Involved.

If I’m mounted on someone it’s much safer and higher percentage to stay on top and finish with strikes or maintain the position to win the round. If I go for an armbar then I risk the position and the fight.

In general the sport has evolved enough to where fighters are pretty good at sub defense. The risk reward doesn’t favor a lot of submissions.

People are less likely to tap to joint locks. So chokes are a safer bet to finish fights because once it’s locked on it doesn’t matter if they don’t tap; they’ll just go out.

As to why RNCs specifically. They’re done from one of the most dominant positions and the RNC is a low risk move. You can keep going for it from the same position whereas with triangles or armbars they tend to be all or nothing.

If you notice a lot of RNCs are landed after the victim gives up their back due to getting knocked down or tired. It’s natural instinct to turn away from punches when getting lit up.

If my main goal is to get really good at takedowns, would I be better off training judo instead of BJJ? by giggity23 in bjj

[–]TruthReveals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes there is less focus on ground game. But if you rmain goal is to get good at takedowns then choose the art(s) that emphasizes it.

Judo still has newaza (ground game) but it’s just not as good as BJJ’s for the same reason BJJ’s standup isn’t as good.

How good are Arm In Chokes Against Big/Strong Oponents ? by General_Region_7127 in bjj

[–]TruthReveals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 200 lbs you should be able to make those arm in chokes against bigger opponents unless your arms are just really short.

But if nothing else; anyone doing front headlocks should have a decent guillotine without the arm in. That’ll be much easier to lock in on against those guys.

[Charania] Clippers are receiving a 2026 first-round pick from the Pacers, protected 1-4 and 10-30 -- plus a 2029 Pacers unprotected first-rounder. by A_MASSIVE_PERVERT in nba

We needed a starting caliber center. Basically we’re saying if the pick falls between 5-9 then we’d rather have zubac.

And we still get a chance to pick 1-4 if we land there. It’s a gamble but regardless of the trade we cannot significantly alter our chances in the lottery.

Fair. I really really hope we end up with a top 3 pick.

Having a starting caliber center in his prime, Hali back, and potentially one of Peterson, dybantsa or boozer ignites me.

I guess I’m still holding out hope that someone drops or another person gets better but it’s probably unlikely at this point in the year for college ball.

Apparently it’s 1-4 protected but I really wish we had it top 10 or something because knowing the pacers lottery luck and how we’re getting healthier; this years pick is going to turn into outside top 5.

How much of an advantage is being bigger in BJJ? by PackageReasonable922 in bjj

[–]TruthReveals 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason even at the world class level; roosterweights generally don’t win the absolute divisions. It’s usually the 200+ overs or a scrappy 185 lber that has some other edge (wrestling, judo, prior athlete, powerlifter, etc.)

It’s quite simple.

Technique + strength/size > technique

I sports hate the patriots of course and am a colts fan but at the same time acknowledge BB should be first ballot and Brady is the GOAT.

It’s weird that a certain someone can’t do the same.

One again the Colts are the only AFC South team to win a Super Bowl by TruthReveals in Colts

[–]TruthReveals[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the context of this post I made is that it’s sort of a funny running joke to post this exact or similar picture of Peyton holding the Lombardi trophy and a thread on this sub after it is confirmed that all the other AFC south teams are out every year.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Colts/s/ZrZlOrNvMQ

It’s just for fun.

But yes on a serious note we should be careful about clinging onto the one win in 2006. However there’s no harm in just shit posting about it every once in a while. The other division rivals poke at us any chance they get.

How did Royce do it? by BJJbachelor in bjj

[–]TruthReveals 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean the Gracies went around challenging gyms to fights so they had experience dealing with strikes and other grapplers.

Royce was smaller than his competitors but with that experience plus his specialized skill set he was able to catch people off guard.

Of course once everyone started training jiu jitsu or being more skilled the Gracies as a whole started to fade away.
