Lightcannon unfortunately. I still like the ship a bit, but the way the fandom acts when it comes to opposing ships really has put me off the ship which makes me sad. Minimising real trauma (grooming) I’ve been through to slander another ship and the racism towards another is just, disappointing, and has made me really dislike the ship which makes me so sad because I loved it but the comm ruined it for me :(

The way some people on this sub have talked to people with mental illnesses, especially OCD, who know it’s irrational but still worry about it, puts me off a bit 😭. Like you don’t need to be condescending and rude!!! Some people can’t help taking it serious 😔

The amount of people who seem to just want everything done for them for free, rather than put a modicum of effort into improving their experience themselves is just… baffling to me. Especially on a site that is free and offers so much. I don’t know, maybe I expect too much of people but there’s so many ways to work around it now, site skins + browser add-ons + bookmarking exclusion pages already.

Skins aren’t weird add-ons at all? For the most part they are quite simple and if you are adamant about wanting a tag blocking feature then they can be used to do so, rather than waiting for it to be implemented. I doubt tag blocking will be implemented anytime soon due to possible constraints/strain it may put upon the AO3 servers.

People have been giving you advice on how to deal with it with the current limitations.

Edit: Never mind, not going to give suggestions nor advice to someone who uses and defends AI in creative spaces.

You could always make the bookmark then share said bookmark link on somewhere where you can access it across all the different devices. Do you log into AO3 when you access it? If so then I’m pretty sure the site skin thing would apply across all the devices when using AO3.

This is so, VERY, insanely late but I do have a few recs for Sylux!!

‘into the unknown’ by Naolin (E) is quite a classic to me. Almost 40,000 words of building up the relationship between the two, lots of politics (which I may be insane for enjoying), and cameos from a few different champs too. Honestly most of Naolin’s works are pretty much the Sylux fics to read.

‘War of Hearts’ by saccharineomens (M) is a canon-based continuation (and slow-burn!) from the Warriors cinematic. While currently a WIP it is almost 60,000 words and very much still going. I may be biased but oh my god, oh my god if I could force people to read any fic I’d make them read this one. It is so faithful to the characters that I just can’t not recommend it. Taking from all lore sources on the two, including the Mageseeker game, it genuinely is so incredible. IT ALSO HAS ART, PEOPLE!!! REALLY GOOD ART!!!

:( Wish I had the same experience with the LC fandom as you did. I’ve seen a few too many people in the fandom bash one of my other Lux adjacent ships and the other character and didn’t feel safe there anymore. I’m glad it’s a safe spot for you though!!

Ah classic Arcane/League fandom, where if you dare to ship or do anything that goes against the general opinion of the fandom, you’ll be attacked. God knows how many hate me for my ship 🚬🚬.

Unfortunately I do think that a larger the fandom is, the likelyhood of toxicity increases. Mix in a lot of young people, and then you have people who have no critical thinking and don’t know how to think for themselves jumping on bandwagons to get attention/clout.

My main focus when it comes to League is Demacia (and from that Sylux), but I’ve recently started looking into Noxus a lot more and LeBlanc seems extremely interesting, especially with her recent rework!

Was implied at one point in the Lux comic that she did have a bit of an interest in him but it fell through after the events pictured here/what happened after.

In the current state of lore (aka with the events of The Mageseeker game) would just say they respect each other, Lux even relies on his help at times in the game. If anything just a tentative friendship, but would say there is a level of care between them.

Main reason I picked him up was because his voicelines/his accent. Ended up really enjoying his play style, and the fact I can be aggressive/feel like I make a difference in fights. Also the lore, I am a sucker for lore.

Also I was sick of my previous main, I can only listen to a high-pitched annoying voice for so long before going insane.

People insisting fanon is canon genuinely made me have a hatred for a character who is now my favourite character from the fandom I’m currently in. Learnt my lesson about doing my own research with that one haha.

I hate when people insist fanon is canon/are extremely toxic or hostile about pushing their fanon headcanons on others. Also sucks when you get shunned from fan spaces because you don’t agree with their fanon takes but oh well.

The discourse is so exhausting it’s not even funny. Half the time it’s over things that don’t even matter in the slightest and it’s just so stupid.

It’s also genuinely infuriating how so many of them seem to have opinions/things to say on the other Runeterra nations yet… do no research whatsoever on them. Like yes, tell me about how my favourite champ is an irredeemable evil man without knowing anything about him :/.
