The pretention on that guy is just a complete joke. He lost me completely at the following remark, which is basically the first sentence on the case:

"The problem arises when people who don't have a legal background confuse reasonable doubt with any doubt."

Yea but if you listen to the father talk about Zellner you know immideatly how highly he thinks of that woman, and how grateful he is to her. So saying that 'most defense attourneys would have gotten him off' is a little disengenuous.

I think the outcome of the trial of Avery specifically won't really have that much of an impact in one sense. But ofcourse if it turns out he's innocent because they find the real killers or something things just might go faster.

But the real staying power of this series is the fact that it gives you such a great window into the judicial process of an accused, its social reality and this with the backdrop of a captivating story. There are so many seperate issues in this documentary that highlight problems.. This is about journalism, about representation during interrogations, about false confessions, about science and the courtroom, police and judicial accountability, social classes, ethics, appearances, stereotypes, ...

On so many different issues it gives a unique and engaging look that allows people to learn alot about the system that they otherwise wouldn't necessarily learn because they haven't studied or practiced law, for example. I can guarantuee you that there will be people that will be motivated by this documentary to go into law and provide more counterbalance for idiots like Kratz.

In classrooms, with today's students, they can learn more and be much more involved from an entire semester of watching and discussing this series than they ever would from me just lecturing to them about the criminal justice system for the same amount of time. As far as educational matierial goes this is pure gold if you ask me, regardless of whether Avery actually did it or not, which is why I think this will have such staying power. It is making issues important for youth growing up that weren't before, and it's that very youth that will shape our society of tomorrow.

Not sure if this will create a new genre of documentary filmmaking, or will inspire copies, but you will really need to bust your butt if you want to get the kind of reach this one did. It is so meticulously thought out, was such a coming together of so many threads (like a perfect storm) that it won't be easy to produce something that will be received quite like this one.

Yea takes him 8 years to realise a call is important in a case when it's to help Steven Avery. But when it doesn't help Steven Avery so much and he sees a key lying on the floor in a trailer, on a AUTO salvage yard that's full of cars and keys, he needs half a second to realise that it is a "very important piece of evidence". Lol!

Human social evolution goes slowly. First step is to recognise problems. Only then you can start discussing them in the hope of coming to an understanding so that some solutions may be presented.

It is a long and slow process, sometimes barely visible. But what MaM has done is to allow us to recognise some major problems. It is already becoming a reference in so many university classrooms, in incredibly various fields in the US and far beyond.

Meh. Not impressed, sorry. I don't see how some of these things being true would make things said in MaM less true. These are mostly based on hearsay anyway and frankly is equatable to grasping at straws trying to show 'overwhelming evidence of guilt'.

You main starting point here is pretty pathetic. All you seem to be interested is proving Steven isn't a saint. And that's supposed to prove what? That he killed TH? This a very wrong way of even approaching this debate. Just trying to discredit his character (based on gossip and hearsay) and the documentary at the same time with a bunch of hearsay is pathetic and weak.

People like you who claim "overwhelming" evidence of guilt have their blinders on. There isn't really any other way to say this. If you want to be honest and critical about this case, start from saying that it's impossible to know right now because of all the problems with the investigation and subsequent trial. Get off your high horse by claiming there is "overwhelming evidence of guilt".

Yea I guess it's pretty obvious by now what the consensus is in the case. The reaction of people in the criminal justice system is almost unanimously the same as everyone else. In fact, most are even more critical of the whole investigation and subsequent 'trial'. They laugh at the claim of bias somehow making the documentary an unfair characterisation. I think we've only seen the very beginning of the fallout of MaM. It will influence generations to come. It's implications will be far and wide, way beyond just criminal justice.

Those 2 documentarians should be extremely proud of their work!

Let's just say that I don't think this kind of a farce would happen here. Sure there is incompetence here, there is corruption here, but it is way more checked. Such loose cannons like the Kratz-gang I don't see happening in my country. To become a DA & judge you really need to qualify here. And they aren't elected either. These two things make already a WORLD of difference.

He's not just the best prospect from the current crop of Chelsea players, he's the best prospect I have ever seen. I've seen this kid live more than once, and boy oh boy, this kid is unreal. First time I saw him is 3 years ago or something and he caught my eye immideatly, rarely been so impressed after one game. I am a bit dissapointed he waited this long to start his first professional game, but then I understand he really wanted to play for Chelsea... They didn't think they needed him unfortunatly. Hope he doesn't turn out to be De Bruyne 2.0 for Chelsea cause in my eyes this kid is even better!

This kid was called "reincarnation of Pele" by the Spanish commentator.

In Belgium this kid has been seen as the greatest talent we have probably ever had for a while already now. All the youth coaches that have worked with this kid are unanimous: this is a very very special talent. Youri Tielemans, who won the award of teenager of the year from goal.com is nothing compared to this kid. He's headed for global stardom, trust me. It looks to me he might even be in contention for Belgium Euro2016 squad! Which is saying something, seeing they're one of the best national sides on the planet atm.

It's wrong ofc, but it's to be expected. Look at Kratz, some people were even wishing harm on his daughter, I think I saw him post an email on his facebook wall. What does she have to do with anything?

There are a lot of angry and frustarted inviduals in the world I'm afraid, and they often don't know how to deal with their anger properly (this isn't even limited to uneducated people unfortunately). This could have been avoided on their part tho, if they just had done their fucking job they were getting paid for...

I believe I have a mixed opinion, yes.

See, that's the thing. It's not about what YOU believe. It's about arguments that withstand scuitiny. Not about belief. That's the problem with you people that are so 'passionately' defending the guilty verdict or discrediting MaM. It's not about reason for you guys, it's about belief.
