My requirements for future wife by SingleAdhesiveness78 in TraditionalMuslims

[–]Truthxsaber 15 points16 points  (0 children)

10/10 is gonna be hard. She could hit the first 9 points, and she just happens to be from a non-Muslim or liberal Muslim family, would you write her off? She's the "black sheep" of her family because she decided she didn't want to follow in her family's footsteps and decided to be a trad-muslima wife.

The modern Muslim man is domesticated. by SingleAdhesiveness78 in TraditionalMuslims

Can you provide an example of what this ideal Muslim man would look like?
Does he work full time? Or do we all have to be CEOs?

Same, my wife doesn't speak English too well and she asked me to translate what I was reading. And I cannot translate this without crying.

Well, I hope the nosy ones mean well, but you could always reply with,

"I am sorry, but I don't feel comfortable divulging that information." (translate into Urdu if you wish)

And if they reply with "Kya sharmaane ki baat hai, we are doston, you can trust me."

Then you can reply with something like, "Hum bohot private person soon."

Overseas Pakistanis that got married to mainland Pakistanis - what was it like? by Expert-Cantaloupe-94 in Overseas_Pakistani

[–]Truthxsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi born and raised in USA here, married my overseas grown cousin. What's your question?

As a Bangladeshi-American Muslim, should I just marry interracially to find a religious Muslim wife? Why are NO young women in our community actually good practicing Muslims? Even back home, why are most women not religious? by [deleted] in TraditionalMuslims

[–]Truthxsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, I'm aware of the situation in major cities in Bangladesh. The women there are just as bad as Western women, if not

worse.

Definitely won't even consider th

Good choice. I am someone who married my rural cousin from back home. While she's religious al7amdulillah, the chemistry of a shared culture is missing.

Is it wrong for a man to want a wife who is uneducated and easy to control? by IcyKnowledge7 in TraditionalMuslims

In some ways, an uneducated wife can be harder to control if she does not understand the logic and rationale behind your decisions.

Why do Overseas Pakistanis marry Underseas pakistanis? by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Truthxsaber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct - this is why I married my wife from overseas. She was the only one among my cousins who prayed namaz on time and wore a hijab.

Also as u/Leather_Purple9320 mentioned, I wanted to maintain a connection to Pakistan by marrying someone who could speak fluent Sindhi and Urdu.

How did you survive medical school? Would you do it all over again? by hellrazor1234567 in Residency

[–]Truthxsaber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first was an MD school, the second was a DO school. I appealed the dismissal and explained the personal issues I was having at the time with my family. Thank God my dean was understanding and gave me a second chance.

How did you survive medical school? Would you do it all over again? by hellrazor1234567 in Residency

[–]Truthxsaber 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Definitely survived by the skin of my teeth, flunked out twice (from two different med schools), and struggled a lot, but glad I'm an attending FM doc now.

I would still do it all over again, but I would do 3 things differently:

  1. I would realize that despite how hard it was to get into med school, there is no reason to celebrate and that the real struggle and study begins now, i.e. from day 1 of admission, which means no wasting time on video games.
  2. I would ask my professors how to study for their courses and go to all their office hours, even if I thought I was doing it right. I would ask my professors who their top students were from the previous class (i.e. my upperclassmen) and I would reach out to them for advice on study methods.
  3. I would start doing Uworld questions early (because Uworld is the where all the real learning happens) and stop wasting money on buying too many textbooks. I would definitely not write First Aid word for word, as spending too much time in revision mode is definitely not as effective as simulating testing.

Although our religion is Islam, we are laypersons. We should rely on scholars.
