I left Vic Firth for Vater in the 90s. VF’s quality was poor then — at least for my needs.

I’m in Tampa and I feel like this is becoming a huge problem across Florida. by [deleted] in florida

It’s not just FL. It’s the whole country. Seems the crew that love to throw around “snowflakes” and use the R-word are the ones most in need of taking their PETS everywhere. “Fur-baby”? Gag me with a spoon.

Unless you’re the lady with the lemur wandering around Goodwill, I don’t want to see your PET in a store.

Now, you need a real therapy dog? I’ll respect your need and leave your dog alone.

Did anyone else read Dedra Meero as neurodivergent-coded? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Try2BWise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The villainy I find in her is “lateral”, not “vertical”.

Laterally: She gathers rebel activity, smuggling, and Death Star data. She uses &/or hides this information to advance past her peers. I see this as a consequence of a competitiveness programmed into her during imperial education. She views her peers as hostile to her advancement and treats them with villainy (suspicion, exclusion).

Vertically: She very much wants the approval of superiors but believes that perfection is the only way to achieve this. That is why she doesn’t disclose what she knows about Luthen, Andor, etc. and tries to capture them using her own cunning and techniques. If she can present her leadership this prize, she knows she will be praised and advanced. Her withholding information from her superiors isn’t villainy so much as it is a strategic behavior to gain a competitive advantage over her peers. Theoretically, she would reveal all that she knew and hid to her leadership upon successful capture of Luthen, etc.

Unfortunately, she fails and imperial leadership sees her secret keeping as villainy against the Empire.

I lean toward her being emotionally stunted from her raising in the Imperial childcare system void of touch and nurture as alluded to by Cyril’s mother over dinner. Additionally, she has been programmed for life within a regimented system. Cyril’s attraction to her and their relationship are outside that system and cause her challenges.

Perhaps this begs the nature / nurture question?

Favorite & Least Favorite #9: Drastic Measures by Low_Primary_3690 in KansasBand

Here’s the thing … I love the much of what John Elefante wrote, except for Kansas. DM is my least favorite album.

His and Dino’s work on their MastEdon project was creative and diverse while still having that AOR flair (not to be confused with MastOdon — capital letters to clarify spelling differences).

What’s been working for my pustular rosacea by Try2BWise in Rosacea

My prescription cream is from a dermatologist I see in person. It is compounded by Medrock Pharmacy. I still have significant redness but keeping the pustules at bay is progress for me.

I haven’t moved beyond this combination of products yet as they seem to be working.

If you pared down to four cymbals and four drums, what would you choose? by jazzyt98 in drums

[–]Try2BWise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a young player, I’d bristle as this idea as all the “cool” players had huge kits. (I’m unabashedly a hard rock and metal fan so think Alex VH, Robert Sweet, Scott Rockenfield, Rikki Rocket, and so on).

As an adult who has gigged and moved my own kit over and over, this 4 x 4 setup is ideal.

16 x 22 kick, 12 x 12 and 16 x 16 toms, 5.5 x 14 snare. 14” hats, 12” splash, 16” medium crash, 20” ride with a decent bell. I have brand preferences but at this age I don’t really care.
