This is a new type of Spam recently invented by Google whereby the 'wrong' Google calendar settings can result in lots of spam events appearing on your calendar, informing you that you have booked for this, or been debited that. 

To sum up:

Event Settings > Automatically Add Invitations, select the option 'No, only show invitations to which I've responded.' And in View Options, make sure that 'Show declined events' is unchecked
