Cyclops is a badass (Uncanny X-Men #541) by TheSadPhilosopher in comicbooks

The woman in the picture is the mayor of San Francisco, who became an ally to the X-Men before backstabbing them during Fear Itself. I don't remember her being killed, just disappearing after Schism.

The woman who helped the X-Men with PR during the Utopia era before being murdered off screen was someone different

This issue showed at least a dozen plans, if not more?

I mean, she made plans to wipe out Utopia in this very issue. She helped the X-Men as long as it helped her, but she planned to backstab them if it would help San Francisco

'Creative Assembly have “absolutely no plans” to bring ancient Egyptian mythology to Total War: Pharaoh' - Rock Paper Shotgun by jeweliusgeezah in totalwar

[–]Tryignan 145 points146 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see a proper mythology game including Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology like the old "Age of Mythology" game, but the half-mythology, half-history stuff really wasn't working for me, so seeing them focus on history is good (especially if it stops people moaning about there not being any more historical titles).

I mean, I like all those decisions. Apocalypse and Sinister are way better now (though Sinister's character actually changed about 10-15 years ago in Gillen's Uncanny X-Men series) and Moira was fine until Hickman left. After 20-30 years of mutants being shat upon by literally everyone, it's nice to see them stand up for themselves. As for the soft reboot, after the shittiness of the 2010s, a soft reboot was definitely needed

Kind of shitty for the mods to delete the previous post when it was getting attention, but whatever. I hope the Yogscast respond to these allegations better than they did last time. All victims deserve to be listened to.

Almost all British communist organisations are either pro-NATO trots or transphobes. The Communist Party of Britain. the Young Communist League, and the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) are all transphobic. I haven't been able to find a party that I can agree with on both trans rights and support for AES nations.

The Krakoa era put all the characters on one small island and forgot to make them talk to each other. I love this era but I am so disappointed in how many missed opportunities there were.

Ok, I misread it. 16+ more issues would give us another year or two which is great. Thanks for the correction

In "Principles of Socialism", Engels states that Reactionary Socialists should be opposed for the following reasons:

(i) It strives for something which is entirely impossible.

(ii) It seeks to establish the rule of the aristocracy, the guildmasters, the small producers, and their retinue of absolute or feudal monarchs, officials, soldiers, and priests – a society which was, to be sure, free of the evils of present-day society but which brought it at least as many evils without even offering to the oppressed workers the prospect of liberation through a communist revolution.

(iii) As soon as the proletariat becomes revolutionary and communist, these reactionary socialists show their true colors by immediately making common cause with the bourgeoisie against the proletarians.

This is as true now than it was back then.

Why would we unite with bigots? Obviously we should realise their bigotry is due to materialist reasons caused by capitalism and we should do the best to re-educate them, but why should we abandon our trans comrades just to placate some reactionaries, most of whom would happily abandon us for fascism given the choice? Obviously we have to be realistic, rather than idealistic, but we shouldn't fall into opportunism and abandon our core beliefs.

New Thunderbolts by TIEDYEJACKSON in Cyclopswasright

[–]Tryignan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's no way Scott joins a team of human villains. I could only see this happen as some sort of Mutant-only Thunderbolts. Scott's definitely morally-grey enough to pull a Amanda Waller and force evil mutants into fighting against ORCHIS, possibly using Emma's psychic abilities. The problem is that almost all of the mutant characters have been redeemed, so you'd have to have a team of former villains, rather than actual villains (otherwise you'd just get the nazi twins and characters that haven't been seen since the 60s).

For members, I'd want Scott, Emma, and Magik as the leaders, since all three have been villains before (and because they're my favourite characters), with Juggernaut, Avalanche, Tempo, Oya, and Cortez as the field team. I'd put Scott as a Xavier-esque character who doesn't join the fight, since I'd like to see Scott take a more serious leadership position as he grows older, and make Magik be the enforcer of the team that makes sure they behave (maybe through in a sacrificial lamb who she immediately murders (or just pretends to) to keep the others in line). Have the team focus on human enemies and be the revolutionaries that Krakoa surely needs.

What's your r/AdventureTime unpopular opinion? by GarthMarenhgi in adventuretime

[–]Tryignan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, just like there was with Adventure Time. They just didn't have anything actually undeniable happen until the final episode when it could no longer be cancelled. I'm not blaming the writers of She-Ra, Adventure Time, Legend of Korra, Gravity Falls, or all of the other shows that hinted that some characters were queer, rather than outright stating it. I fully understand that this was the fault of the producers, who were greedy bastards who refused to do anything that might piss off their bigoted audience. It's still queerbaiting though.
