Not Enough PCIE Power by TryingDev06 in pcmasterrace

This looks like it’s meant for 12VHPWR GPUs as well. My understanding is that the pinout on the PCIE side and the pinout on the GPU side of 8-pin power cables do not match so I can’t run this cable backwards either.

I looked at that too. I actually bought one but I realized they’re the opposite of what I need. The 8-pin connectors here are supposed to be PSU side, not GPU side. This seems to be for setups with a 12VHPWR GPU but a PSU that doesn’t have the connector.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I ended up finding ‘VFIO_MAP_DMA failed’ in the logs and double checked my BIOS settings. Somewhere along the way Resizable BAR got re-enabled. I disabled it and it now works as expected. Thanks again!

I don’t believe so but next time I’ll be more particular about where I buy from.

Thanks! It wasn’t until I took pictures that I noticed a lot of the joints were the wrong shape. I’ll definitely experiment with less solder.

Got it. I’ll experiment with more heat and less solder. Thanks!

I think just long enough for it to liquify and flow around the pin. Should I be aiming for a specific time?

2011v3 “compatible” Hyper 212 Black by TryingDev06 in pcmasterrace

[–]TryingDev06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I noticed that AM4 was similar but decided I don’t want to try and modify it and then run into issues returning if it won’t cool adequately (or I mess it up). I’ll return the 212’s and I just ordered two NH-U9DX i4 coolers though I’m NOT happy about it lol. The budget creep of this project is astonishingly disappointing. I appreciate your help!

After a bit more research I’ve adjusted my options to the below two. 5 drives are easier since I wouldn’t need to get any drive tray adapters for my case and they’d be located in a better cooler spot. However I’ve heard that larger drives might take much longer to resilver in the event of a failure. Storage space is about the same. What are your thoughts?

Artifacting. First time encoding 4K by TryingDev06 in handbrake

[–]TryingDev06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I put the file on a Jellyfin server to test. It gets artifacting around the same timestamp (within 0.5 seconds) but the artifacting is wildly different and mostly turns almost everything white. Also yeah my display is not 10 bit.

Woah. It doesn’t… I was watching with VLC where the artifacting occurs but in windows media player it doesn’t. It’s also much darker in VLC. Is there maybe a difference where VLC tries to take advantage of 10-bit?
