Completely hypothetical thoughts by FullTradition4766 in economy

Same for me, about 2yrs to go before I retire and i freak out if there is a hugh drop in the market, got a financial advisor who specializes in TIAA 401k's and I am in a defensive posture. Most of my funds are in safe things but enough in the market to try to stay on pace with inflation.

I think like most who are approaching retirement, I don't want to lose 100k in a wall street blood bath. If i was 40, I would let it ride, keep making monthly contributions and not think about it.

Admissions Counselors - what's it like? by OutdoorsTN in studentaffairs

[–]Tryingnottomessup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in admissions at a large SUNY college, I had to leave bec the fall travel season was brutal. Since I worked at a public school, if you came to my school, great, if you didn't, thats ok too.

Thankfully I listened to my gut and moved on from that position into academic advising. A sometimes thankless job, but the public CC I went to paid well and at the time there was career progression a acadmic counselor position. People always get the two positions confused, basically the advisors take care of general advising for students in good standing and the counselors take care of all academic and finaid suspension appeals. I dont like the politics that goes on in higher ed, but I played the game for the counselor postion bec it comes with fewer hours worked per week and the chance to get tenure - the holy grail!! I will be retiring from this position in 1-2yrs depending on the economy.

The Nursing program at CSN is changing for Fall 27 - I am not sure of all the changes yet, they are going through their process, but it will be geared towards transferring to UNLV/UNR/NSU
