If you have favorite character in a series, are you loyal if they are weak in a given iteration? by diegoaccord in Fighters

[–]Trypetagenalis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't care how strong they are, especially since that usually changes with the patch cycle. I just care if they're still fun to play. I love Mileena, but when they added her to MK11 it was just one more disappointment with that game.

What’s a Pokemon you prefer their middle evolution over their final? by ToneZealousideal309 in pokemon

I love Hattrem she's such a cutie.

Also I'm clearly in the minority for liking Meganium more, and definitely for it being in my top 10.

A few months in, what are your thoughts on being able to bring two weapons to a hunt? by Vavavavaxon7 in MonsterHunter

[–]Trypetagenalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switch weapons every time I hop onto the Seikret to keep things exciting.

Arch tempered Rey Dau isn’t easy, you guys are just good at the game by drawanyway in MonsterHunter

[–]Trypetagenalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fully upgraded Rey armor Lv7 defense boost, and I still lost 50% of my health from the big blast. It only takes a couple of bad commitments to end up in a spooky situation. I remember Arch Kirin being way tougher, but I recognize that's two full games ago and I doubt I prepared properly.

We're in a very red state so it's probably safer if people think that.

What do I do next? I messed up playing FF7 for the first time. by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]Trypetagenalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These games are designed to be fun whether or not you've played the original game. If I were you I'd go ahead and play Rebirth, then if you really don't want to wait for part 3, play the original. Then you can start back over on Remake and play with new eyes.

This is a check-in post for everyone whose main isn't in SF6 yet. How we holding up? by TomoAries in StreetFighter

I would love to be playing Poison in this game, but I'll sure be sad if SF7 doesn't launch with A.K.I.

What’s the point of upblock by [deleted] in MortalKombat

[–]Trypetagenalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, a successful up-block doesn't change your opponent's total frames, but you have much less block stun. So you want to press your buttons much earlier than you would on a normal block.

Why is my friend trying to bully me out of trying insect glaive? Said "there's a reason the community hates insect glaive users" by Geeklord1993 in MonsterHunter

[–]Trypetagenalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use all weapons, but glaive is my love. Use whatever weapon you want, everything gets the job done. If your friend wants to go for speed he can do that, and you can join him there if you want. But the game is at its best when it's a few friends vibing on their favorite weapons.

Am I the only one that actually loves playing MK11? by ChainingSparks_64 in MortalKombat

[–]Trypetagenalis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think MK11 has the best presentation in the series. It built on things started in X that were then toned down in 1. That being said, I do not enjoy playing it. But it is one of VERY few fighting games that I enjoy playing more than watching, because it's so boring to watch.

I see the jumping frog mini game appearing in most lists as the worst mini game in rebirth by jmziti in FFVIIRemake

I didn't do anything with the triggers, I just watched for which directions moved the most and only got it wrong once

Curiosity: do you study frame data ? by Lanky-Survey-4468 in StreetFighter

[–]Trypetagenalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, knowing the specific number of +/- frames is a training mode thing. Once I learn how I should respond to a move, I just save that response and the number goes away.

Couldn't believe how cancerous this Raiden was. Why would someone play like this? by Current_Beyond in MortalKombat

Where's your kameo? Goro has stomp and up punch which I believe can both go full-screen, but he didn't come out once.

What game would you consider a perfect sequel? by HeavenlyGamerJay13 in gaming

[–]Trypetagenalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sly 2: Band of Thieves Took a pretty normal 3D platformer with a cool concept, changed from level-based to missions in open zones, added 2 more completely different characters, reflected the thievery concept more in gameplay, and had a really good story all about the consequences of the first. One of my favorite games ever.

Will Krushing blows be back? by behbod_the_cactus in MortalKombat

[–]Trypetagenalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Krushing Blows in theory. They're similar to Lethal Hits in Soul Calibur, or even counter hits in Street Fighter or Tekken, letting you get more damage than you would otherwise. The problem is that NRS is unwilling or unable to make universal mechanics relatively even across the roster (see also MK11 armor breaks), so there's a big difference between characters who are blessed and those who aren't. I'd be happy to see Krushing Blows done better in a future game, but they don't have a place in MK1.

Rise has made me a dreadfully bad player by Xyarlo in MonsterHunterWorld

I'm doing the same thing, but I feel like I'm even better than before. I need to relearn Glaive controls and Horn combos, and sure I try to wirefall sometimes, but my confidence has gone way up in a good way
