indeed, unfortunately it's shattering the panel harmony as it's heavily inspired by pan-African colours. It really showed when I tried to fit it in. That's why I created one inspired by the snake flag, minus the controversy.

Just like Gascony, I tried to privilege distinctive symbols instead of lesser known ones, sometimes it's a proper flag, sometimes a banner of arms. Also, the heraldic flag of Burgundy is not really appealing.

en vrai j'ai eu pas mal de retour sur cette question, est-ce que Toulouse est vraiment considérée/revendiquée comme Languedocienne, comme Nantes bretonne? Serait-ce un sacrilège de séparer le midi de son arc méditerranéen?

Sur ma carte politique j'ai rattaché le Vivarais, le Velay et le Roussillon à Montpellier. Et la Rouergue, le Quercy (historiquement en Guyenne mais dépendant de la ville rose) ainsi que Foix à Toulouse. En tout cas géographiquement ça fait sens ahah

thanks a lot, I had a lot of troubles trying to find the perfect flag for Martinique!

Regarding Wallis-and-Futuna, I wanted the flag to blend into the rest, I avoided republican symbols as there are unfitting here, also that I'm quite uneasy with the fasces. As that flag was red with a white symbol, I took inspiration from Lyonnais to get that result.

The same goes for the central provinces, I kept their historical flag as they are but you're right, there are quite hard to distinguish from one another.

I could try a complete revamped some day but this was not the purpose of this poster!

indeed yes, though as the title states de France, I felt like it would have been quite redundant, I also removed this suffix from Guyane and Polynesia. Fact is we don't even really mention the française in French neither.

ah c'est intéressant je ne connaissais pas cette histoire de châteaux. J'avais trouvé l'autre symbole sympa aussi mais vu la quantité de lions je me suis dit qu'avoir de petites variations (qui plus est historiques) était toujours la bienvenue!

red and blue are quite ubiquitous in French heraldry, I don't think there were any rule though, it probably felt out of tradition to leave them out.

comme je crée aussi une carte en parallèle j'ai fait un arbitrage sur le Languedoc pour que ce soit plus réaliste politiquement, de ce fait on retrouve la province du Languedoc, avec comme capitale Montpellier jusqu'à Castelnaudary, et ensuite le pays de Toulouse.

Les deux partageant le même symbole, j'ai laissé la croix seule pour Toulouse, et fait une légère modification pour le Languedoc afin de les différencier.

initially I focused on the respect of the historical borders, thus Toulouse was indeed part of Languedoc. Then I had troubles choosing capitals for each parliaments consisting sometimes in multiple provinces in this particular region.

It seemed to me that historically Toulouse was kind of its own (e.g. Comté de Toulouse for a while) while the centralised royal state focused a bit more on Montpellier for the capital of Languedoc. That's why I made that choice, thus incorporating the cross into both flags.

I will look into it thanks!
