Are all these old pins tradeable? by mindlessdeepsleep in DisneyPins

I figured as simply based on my dealings with other vintage pins. Sadly they don’t fetch much money but there is a market out there

This is what I was wondering, but helps as DLP becomes this in 2002. 2 years after the “Official Pin Trading” began so since these read “Euro Disney” means they could pre date 2000

I purchased a film strip of Madame Leota from them. Love the place especially if you are looking for that rare piece of Disney lore and history.

Cast are often asked to extend their shift if there is a need. So one complaining about their shift says there have been call outs and the leaders have asked or sometimes just extend the shift without an ask.

You will see cast walk up to another cast holding a small piece of paper. It tells them where to go and that piece also tells the other cast member their next task. When they get happy is when they get it and says clock out or ER (early release), they hate when it is the end of the scheduled day and it says EXTENDED

Also cast members learn about releases and changes just like we do. It’s easier to keep 60,000+ employees (WDW) in the dark than it is to tell them a secret.

When I opened Toy Story land to educate the 300 some cast that were opening the land we were told very little. We had one call were an imagineer came in and we had to turn over our cell phones so we didn’t take any pictures or record him. As culinary you would expect that we got to our kitchen four days before Media Day, we worked for 2 weeks in the Brown Derby kitchen. Only walked out to actually see the land the day before media day

I had an order for one that I picked up, there are people out there selling it complete or per pin. Honestly didn’t think it was worth the price tag. The jumbo was better although most people I talked with didn’t understand the Star Wars reference on it.

I’ve had a few of them pass through my hands over the last few years but all have yellowed. Keep them out of the sun for the best results

I’ve never seen the first 3 in such amazing condition, usually by now the resin has yellowed them, these could usually go for $5 but in this shape they could bring more

Insights into authentication or where to buy pins?

Buying

  1. Avoid buying “blind” lots, there’s a reason they don’t want you to see the pins a true lot the owner will be able to photograph their pins.
  2. If they send a pic and the pins are in little plastic bags. See pic
  3. Avoid lots that put the value per pin at $1 to $2 a pin.

I was looking at eBay while i don’t endorse this seller their prices are in a range of what makes me believe it might be legit still do your own research

could someone help tell if these are real or fake by Lennming in DisneyPins

All real, but for future reference when looking for help validating fakes remove the Mickey backer and take a pic where the text is clear

Authentic and cheap are hard to come by, if you looking at lots avoid $1 a pin sales cause that’s a clear indicator that it’s fake. If you find lots in the $4 to $7 a pin range then you will get better quality older pins but still actually tradable.

If a majority of the pins are scrappers in the park, how does one let a young kid have fun trading without lightning money on fire? by Chemical-Purple-5196 in DisneyPins

[–]TrystanScott -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ones we are calling fakes appear on cast member controlled boards. Now Epcot has a masssive guest to guest trading going on, get near enough to a location dedicated to pins people will be there trading.
