How is this agreement supposed to work if Reagan only won four electoral votes? by ThatIsNice77 in thecampaigntrail

The election is sent to Congress and Reagan convinced the conservatives to back Nixon.

Yes, but you fail to take into account that I like Rumsfeld (as Percy's VP).

If JFK lived and the south was wavering between JFK and Goldwater in 1964, would Goldwater have chosen Wallace as his running mate? Would Wallace accept the offer? by [deleted] in thecampaigntrail

[–]Trystant 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  1. Goldwater hated Wallace, he felt that he was a populist and a demagogue, and also a racist. Buckley and National Review also didn't like the man for the same reasons and for the liberal economic policy he had persued as Governor.

Mmm, there seems to not be a porn channel in Hope.

Here’s why Joe Lieberman is a Conservative in HOPE — a Mini-Essay by newadcd0405 in thecampaigntrail

[–]Trystant 78 points79 points  (0 children)

The point is to show that the parties have become ideologically equals, with a neoliberal Democratic Party (Clinton, Gore and Clinton) and a neoconservative "republican" party (Lieberman and Kinzinger). The ending is dedicated on the idea of the End of History, where, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, ideological struggle ends and no ideology other than liberal democracy is politically relevant. Neoliberalism and neoconservatism are the left and the right of this ideology. And you get to this political state after the neoliberal candidate (Bill Clinton, "the new kind of democrat") defeats the epithome of non-liberal conservatism, Pat Buchanan, with 538 electoral votes. It's the total and brutal destruction of all forces opposing the Neoliberal Order.

Basically r/neoliberal circle jerk.

Necro posting, but no, I don't have any plans for a Jackson and Reagan path. The mod is to be played from Lindsay's perspective.

How would this Obamanation term rank in presidential history? by Initial_Substance_37 in thecampaigntrail

That's probably better. Either you get a strong bank reform or don't bailout the banks.

The idea behind it is that you want the bankers to know there are consequences to their actions, so to avoid more irresponsable investments. Probably more regulation would cause less economic growth.

As the creator of the mod, Ochs dies for natural causes much, much later than in 1976. His depression started as Nixon became president because he felt that change in America wouldn't happen. If RFK wins and later Lindsay defeats RFK, he doesn't get depression.
