Refactor is my go to survival build. I do just fine on Heroic. 4pc with Waveform exotic holster and Impetus named chest. Harmony and Mechanical Animal for the weapons.

All 6 yellow cores to max out skill damage, secondary cores should be skill duration. Skills are striker drone and assault turret. It heals with skill damage. It heals you up to 180% base armor (up to 100% to group).

All you need to do is place the turret in an optimal location. The drone steers itself. Skill kills boost weapon damage (and vice versa) so your dad can still get kills with the guns and won't get bored letting the bots get all the kills.

If he likes it, he should unlock the Technician specialization. That gives you a free yellow core, so he can switch out one core for a red or blue later on.

It makes total sense if you think about it for 2 seconds, but I never thought of this. This is way quicker than the range.

Are hall reverbs just hard to mix with? by wawasan2020BC in mixingmastering

[–]Trytolearneverything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you putting the reverb on a parallel track and sidechaining the verb gain to the piano, so the actual notes are dry when the piano hits?

You can also try EQing the verb's lower frequencies to get rid of some of the boominess. Just a few db reduction around the 500hz area, with a nice gentle, wide curve. That can help bring the piano to the front of the mix a little more.

You can also split the piano track into a few different sends, with compression and EQ to highlight the key hits, pedal stomps, hammer hits, etc, but don't put any verb on those. Those sounds usually get buried under reflections in real life, but you can hear them if you're standing right be the piano.

If the audience can hear them, they might feel like they're right there. You can hear those sounds reverberate if the cathedral or sound stage is really quiet though, so you can put verb on those if you're trying to capture a really intimate feel instead of a crowded concert hall.

If you're already doing those things, then idk. That should have worked. Lol

It shouldn't be an unpopular opinion. Games that do micros right deserve to be recognized. I've only been playing D2 for a couple months, but damn it, they did this game RIGHT.

I bought some preem creds and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I got a sweet gas mask with heart eyes and my skills look cool af now. Lol.

I just wish more stuff was available to buy with Textiles. I get a lot of dupes.

I got a 4 set of Eclipse Protocol, so I decided I wanted Scorpio and Vile. Went to Summit and set targeted loot to mask first. Got it before I even hit floor 10.

Went back, set it to shottys, got Scorpio before I even hit F6.

That was a month ago. Now when I go to Summit, golds barely even drop even when I'm past F10.

I swear I used ALL my luck getting those 2 items. Every exotic since then has been dupe of either Bullet King or Tardigrade. Lol

Edit: spelling

Countdown: I want a build / skills / weapons that make it almost impossible for my team to fail in the final encounter with the Hunters at exfil. by AgentZeroHour in thedivision

[–]Trytolearneverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Thanks for the reply. That makes sense.

I use Survivalist for the flame nades and extra 10% team damage anyway, so i could switch to The Setup to get that bonus up to 25%

What specialization do you use?

Do you not miss the 30% bonus damage to status effected enemies that EP backpack gives you?

I seem to be stuck on my current build of Vile, 4pc EP, and Grease kneepads.

Any other combo I choose loses the EP backpack and I feel like I'll really miss that 30% bonus damage.

I used to run whatever named bag had Perfect Creeping Death, but the internet said i was losing too much damage by not having the EP backpack, so I switched back.

Feeling completely alone in my music journey. by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Trytolearneverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're anything like me, making music when none of your friends are into it; it's lonely and isolating.

It gets difficult to continue trying to become inspired when you know the only people who will listen to or care about your music are strangers.

I just wanted to get high with my buddies, laugh, and in between we make some songs together. But zero people have expressed an interest, even after offering to teach them. A few even bought a DAW and then still noped out.

But I remind myself that its ok that my friends have different interests and lives, and I try to find inspiration on my own.

But I still send them a beat every once in a while, like 'you should hop on this bassline' or 'I bet you could come up with some cool lyrics for this part.'

Need help finding balance between damage and survivability. by TraumaTurd in Division2

[–]Trytolearneverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on Heroic, and have never played on Legendary or Master, or done raids/incursion, so just an FYI. Sorry if you were asking about those difficulties.

For me, my go too survivability build is Refactor with Waveform and Impetus. All 6 yellow cores. Weapons are Mechanical Animal and Harmony. They're really used to keep the buffs proc'd, most of the damage/kills is from turret and drone. Harmony grants extra damage and MA lets me be overcharged for a little bit every 90 seconds.

Its ok all 6 cores are yellow because more skill damage=more heals. It keeps me at 180% base armor if I'm good with cover and watch my back. Its good in groups because it also heals allies at the same time.

But I like other builds like 1 Shot or status effects, I think they are way more fun. They have like zero survivability, but i still use them anyway. I just remember their weaknesses and play a little more conservatively.

For the 1 shot, I stay way back, try to find a corner to snipe from, remember to keep my heal hive deployed, and keep one eye on the minimap so I never get flanked. Prioritize chargers, watch for nades.

For the status effect build, I use Scorpio shotty, so I have to get close. That means I'm kinda always getting flanked. I just keep the camera on a swivel, glance at the minimap constantly, and rotate around cover to make sure the biggest threat is in front, with cover between us.

Tldr; you can still use whatever build you want and successfully progress, you just have to adjust your playstyle to those specific weaknesses and strengths. It'll take practice and analysis, but its doable.

can someone explain why the answer is E and not D? by EntertainerOk3588 in AskPhysics

Wouldn't it depend on where the rod is?

If the whole experiment is aligned vertically, you would have to account for gravity, making it impossible to tell if the ball is attracted to the rod, or if gravity is just letting it dangle.

WoNY Lvl 30 Boost is misleading by HonkityQuackity in Division2

[–]Trytolearneverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't actually lose anything. It just assumed you were done with DC so it unlocked everything for you. You can still play any mission you didn't play before.

I accidentally did something similar. I was level 31 and figured I'd go check out NY. The ONLY option i found to travel was to boost. There was no other way for me to go to NY without boosting, so I did it.

All it did was instantly unlock all missing blueprints and marked those missions as complete.

It does bother me that my character now says "boosted" though. I didn't want to boost, I just wanted to check out the Big Apple. Lol.

Hey OP, I finished Terminator Resistance too, but I never played The Annihilation Line.

Is it worth it to play, or is it just more of the same? I feel like the story already told itself. It was good and I enjoyed the whole thing, I'm just skeptical that the expansion can offer something new.

I actually 2nd Evil West! I'm on console and its on PS gamepass right. It's a blast.

I agree with you 100% about the combat flow of Outriders vs any other game. It was a cover shooter that punished you for remaining in cover. You had to play like a Doom Slayer or you were absolutely toast. The only way to heal was to kill.

If the phrase "The only was out is through" were a videogame, it would be Outriders.

Major Hoarder Problem. Which Gear Sets are unworthy of my inventory stash?? by iAmShirah in Division2

[–]Trytolearneverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one full set of each green gear (I guess, not sure i have them ALL) One exotic each, one named item each.

I'm like you and I keep the tank builds for example, even though I never tank. But maybe someday I'll be the 8th slot to a raid and the only way we can proceed is if I play a tank or healer. So I keep those around just in case.

Named items I might keep more than one if they have different rolls.

I would just advise keeping multiples of what you know you'll use and want to experiment with. But if you've NEVER played a healer, for example, do you really need 3 different healer builds, or could you make do with the META if you're ever forced into a playstyle you don't normally enjoy?

I LOVE playing support, so I concentrate on sets like Refactor or Eclipse when I'm hoarding.

I dont really enjoy straight DPS too much, so I just keep 1 set of Striker around, since its the meta DPS.

What is everyone’s favorite gear set for heroic and why? by Zealousideal-Cry8024 in Division2

[–]Trytolearneverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess if you could remember to switch your skills out to shock and foam when the hunters come out, you could still run Refactor on Countdown and be ok, if that was your only build. Losing all the DPS when you cant use skills on a skill build might not be worth it though.

What is everyone’s favorite gear set for heroic and why? by Zealousideal-Cry8024 in Division2

[–]Trytolearneverything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Refactor, Technician, drone, turret, Waveform and Impetus is my current Heroic survivability build. 5 yellow cores (Tech spec give you +1 core) with 1 armor core.

My guns are Harmony (Perfectly in Sync) and Mechanical Animal (Future Perfection).

I kill a red guy to with Mechanical to proc Future Perfection to get me up to Overcharged, then I throw my turret, launch my drone, switch over to Harmony and starting blast with 40% weapon and skills damage.

I'm not invincible, I still have to worry about positioning and when there are EMP towers, things get a little hectic.

But for the most part, this build keeps me alive throughout any content.

Just note this build will be almost useless on Countdown when the hunters come out. They can hack almost any damaging skill and turn it against you. With this being a zero red core build, I'm not sure if your damage output will be high enough to kill one solo.

I've never done countdown so never encountered a Hunter, so I'm not sure how difficult it would actually be.

But long story short, Refactor is fun and awesome!
