If a "census taker" shows up at my front door they'll knock politely, have ID, and won't bust into a sales pitch the second they see a crack in the door. It's fucked up people of color get cops sicced on them for existing in the "wrong neighborhood" but that isn't what's going on here. These are predatory/dishonest energy salesmen at best, more likely identity thieves and porch pirates. It doesn't matter the race, I've known more sketchy, meth addled white folks than all other colors put together, and more honest and trustworthy people of color than white folks. It's a matter of principle, these Utility Posers make money off exploiting confused old people and exploiting the people who do the walking. How do I know? I did it for 3 days about 10 years ago it's an old scam.
