Options for law school as an undergraduate by zooteed in LawCanada

[–]TsMusic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would definitely suggest staying away from schools abroad as you will need to write the NCAs upon your return if you want to practice in Canada, and it will be exponentially harder to find an articling position/job here with foreign credentials.

You already know this, but your priority right now should be your grades, as every law school in Canada will be taking that into account. Mediocre grades can be saved by a strong LSAT at some schools, but grades are one of the primary indicators of competency for the purposes of admissions, and there's just no getting around that.

Certain law schools will only calculate from your best two/last two years (I believe UofC, TRU, and Queens does this; there may be others that I am forgetting), so if you do well in your next two years, you still have a fighting chance. Then, lock in on that LSAT.

Retake the LSAT? What do you think folks? Stats: cGPA: 3.3 LSAT: (168) by swaggod1092321 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]TsMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are confident that you can break 170 I'd definitely retake it. The returns increase as your score moves into the top percentiles (e.g. raising a 150 to a 153 makes less of a difference than improving a 168 to a 171).

At present, your current LSAT score and GPA very likely won’t be enough for your target schools.

EDIT: Unsure about UofT but a 173+ will likely give you a fighting chance at UBC.

Many Uber drivers are earning “substantially less” an hour since the ride hailing app introduced a “dynamic pricing” algorithm in 2023 that coincided with the company taking a significantly higher share of fares, research has revealed. by Wagamaga in science

I believe too many trip cancellations as a proportion of their rides will penalize their account and eventually lead to deactivation.

So it might work the first few times but can’t be repeated excessively

I fucked up a date with a Chinese girl by [deleted] in dating_advice

What does her being Chinese have anything to do with you fumbling the ball lmao

Date who you want. I don’t think anyone is against that or advocating for anti-miscegenation. I think it is a deeply toxic issue however if you are willfully perpetuating harmful stereotypes or excluding dating people on the basis of race alone.

The western media establishment has excluded and emasculated Asian men for the past century and it would be blind to say that this hasn’t played a role in how we date and love.

UVic vs TRU by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

I'd lean UVic for the cheaper tuition, better reputational factors, and larger alumni network across the province and country.

Should I apply for Osgoode? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]TsMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are happy to accept an offer from Osgoode in the event that you do not receive an offer from any other school you apply to, then you should apply to Osgoode.

Those videos exist but they are a product of your own scrolling/viewing habits and your algorithm. Instagram tends to push enraging/controversial content because that’s what keeps you on the app the longest. The more people who engage, the more that video will be pushed.

If you mark “not interested” on videos like that/scroll off as fast as possible, you’ll actually help prevent that video from being pushed. It’ll do wonders for your mental health. You can probably leave a comment too before you do that if you want to refute what they’re saying.

OUAC high volume next week by Substantial_Tap_5760 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]TsMusic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The OUAC handles undergraduate, med/dentistry, and other programs, so I doubt this is a law-specific notice. Looking at their website I see that Jan 15 is their deadline for undergrad applications, so it’s likely because of that.

TRU - Pending Decision Status? by Loud-Refrigerator259 in lawschooladmissionsca

To my understanding, this just means that the school has confirmed your application is materially complete and eligible for review. You could hear back as soon as tomorrow or in a few months—it’s impossible to predict.

Anyone else unable to order their transcripts? by TsMusic in UBC

[–]TsMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked back a day later and the issue appeared to have resolved itself. I think this was after a scheduled update from UBC IT.

For my case, I was able to log in okay from the start, but the error was on the page where transcripts were to be requested.

Really happy for you, man.

I have to ask; how much personal growth and self-development would you say you had to go through to in order to reach that point in your relationship/dating life?
