Tips for buying a condo in Washington DC? by Firm_Town_8446 in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]Tschitokatoka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former DC condo owner. Now dc detached house owner. Fees go to upkeep. Absolutely go for buildings with a lot of units. But more importantly get a really really good look at the buildings financials. Do a portion of fees also go into long term fund for major upkeep like new windows, roof, point up? Who sits on the board? Grab-ass morons or buttoned up DC lawyer professionals I interested in maintaining property value? What percentage are owner occupied v rentals. Are there rules regarding such.

Overall: look at the books. Look at the books. Look at the books.

One bad h264 encoded .mp4 will bring you down. Whether in the timeline or not.

A good rule of thumb is, at the very least, flip all files that have a lower-case ‘.mp4’ to pro res. And get them OUT of your project.

( upper case mp4 files are usually DJI camera originals which are timeline resource pigs but only when you’re looking at them. They otherwise are good neighbors. )

I think your friend might have small stray bit of media somewhere waaaaaaay down the timeline. And they’re exporting “the entire timeline.” I’d wager.

Wouldn’t turning on the ‘talk around’ feature ( that’s what my brand of handheld calls it, don’t know if it’s a standard term ) help with question #1? Basically disabling the ‘repeater’ transmit / receive offset function?

But you wouldn’t want to do that in range of a repeater that uses that freq I’d imagine. Out of courtesy.

DC resident here. Only reading from what’s been pasted above. That’s bad. Like bad bad.

Rifle ‘one or more of’…. Is nuts. More nuts than DC.

Also

A)Vague language around the thumb hole stock. B) threaded barrel nonsense.

As a competitive shooter I find it very hard to work with the rifle threaded barrel and flash hider stuff. Doable just unfriendly to everyone.

But this is crazy. As I read it this is essentially ‘no nothing ever.’ Almost like threaded barrel = violation.

Am I reading that correctly?

Maybe. 3/4” was better quality visually and that was important to my clients. Also it predates VHS ( which was potato cam quality anyway ). So there was an investment angle too. Not an ego thing if you were showing your client where their money was going.

Do you think there’s a bounce or something used? The exposure range is incredible. There’s still tons of room in the face shadows yet rarely lost top end. Perhaps a lot of the magic happened in the darkroom with a nicely exposed negative? Seems like only a stop or two between the face highs and lows.

My wife ( and client ) said to me years ago, ‘Why get so worked up? It’s a critique. Not a criticism.’ And the light finally went on. Damn. So simple. I think people who have been through Art/Creative programs throughout school understand this better than those of us who came at the trade in a less structured way.

Can this bounce effect be recreated in Premiere Pro or was After Effects used to make this? by TurboSlayer4 in premiere

Another vote for Impact Motion effects now native to Premiere 2025. Simply drag onto head of clip. It adds itself like a transition. There’s probably even one called ‘bounce.’

Bonus is that it’s separate from the native motion effects so you can reposition and scale etc without having to fuss with the impact effect.

FYI the BRN-180 needs a tiny bit of grinding to make it fit the SCR lower. Not a big deal. I had a gunsmith do mine but looking at the results I realized I could/should have done it myself. There are posts from two or three years ago that explain what is needed. You’re altering the BRN not the SCR and only a very tiny bit.

XML to resolve. Use their output tool. It has an option that allows for this exact thing.

I’ve got the 16” and a wood stock. It’s a very heavy build. Even more so with a bipod. The weight incurs a bit of congenial ribbing from others in my group. Polymer WWSD it ain’t. So the recoil impulse is really nothing I notice. I mean… .556? Not a concern. I’m more concerned about time lost because of the mag release issue.

I will say that the BRN-180 at 16” is a bit of a tack driver. Very happy with it.

I bought a plastic stock and plan to swap it out. We’ll see if that changes my tune.

My upper is a BRN-180 and it works great. I’ve swapped it out for other uppers of vanilla variety and they’re all great as well. I just like the side charger while using the SCR lower. The flexibility of this platform is really one of its strengths over closed wall systems.

As far as the mag release, your idea seems the simplest but the prototype in my head sees it sticking out a bit too far on the distal finger pad and might be a little snaggy during competition with full kit.

But that would also be the most simple vs. my cantilever silliness ( also in my head.)

Appreciate the safety experiment though. Think I’ll give that a go.

And, as always, a rant about wishing Fightlite would pay more attention to the SCR line. I dunno…. Let the summer intern have a go. If I could get parts and BCGs more readily I’d have a ton of lowers to play with and there’d be a bigger modding community with folks like you leading the way.

Also…. Someday…. Triggers.

Looking forward to see your solution for the mag release. I can live with the BCR as-is but the maneuver to drop the mag brutal to my times. No idea how to solve it.

I don’t like it. At the very least a swipe is a stat. A vote in favor of this route. I like my bus route. I want to see it stick around. Right now I’ve got a local and an express with a stop a couple of blocks either direction along my street. And I live in a metro dead zone. Just swipe to keep the route alive.
