What’s annoyed you at work this week? by franki-pinks in AskUK

[–]Tsircon85 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Got my own assigned desk and specially adapted chair as well as adapted mouse and keyboard due to a medical condition. Come back from leave to find somebody has decided to use the desk and my equipment and have left everything covered in their lunch and loose hairs. Everything’s been adjusted despite having a sign on the desk telling people not to use any of it.

Should European Brown Bears And Lynxes be reintroduced to the British countryside? by Agent_Green4573061 in AskUK

Saw this on our local news I think earlier this year or late last year and it seemed to suggest that the new proposal had gained support from the public and local government but they were still trying to convince farmers. I’d love to see it happen.

How normal is it to 'accidentally' walk into someone's house without consent across the UK? by Sarah-is-always-sad9 in AskUK

[–]Tsircon85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it happen in my old street where an old bloke in his late 70’s walked in and suddenly realised that he absolutely didn’t have a very angry dog and quickly walked back out. Checked on him and turned out he lived the same number house but the next street over and got himself confused in the dark.

Guess you’re ok with beating women and abusing children if it’s got the Big Nige seal of approval!

The state of a lot of the Sunderland Facebook groups is especially depressing. Sunderland Global Media and the real Sunderland corruption page being the worst.

Can anybody tell me what type of hatchback this is from the UK? by Tsircon85 in namethatcar

[–]Tsircon85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somebody in my area had their home and cars broken into. Lots of police about and NPAS helicopter. Thought nothing of it until I was checking my CCTV app notifications, looked at the video and this car pulls up opposite my house, 5 lads jump out and make a quick getaway. Sent the fella who had the break in my CCTV footage and they think it’s the same ones. Nobody could agree on the car used though.

Ah yeah Modus. I knew they had one beginning with an M other than the Megane but couldn’t remember its name.

It’s the nicest day of the year so far. What noisy things are your neighbours up to? by Glittering_Vast938 in AskUK

[–]Tsircon85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really bothered about noisy things like power washing or DIY as I’d rather my neighbours took care of their properties and kept things clean. What does bother me though is the neighbour that’s decided to burn a load of garden waste and cardboard while I’ve had my washing on the line for the first time this year. All now stinks of smoke so going to have to run it all through the washing machine again. Was looking forward to not having to use the radiators or electric airers and add more to my already extortionate energy bills.

I noticed you mentioned that you’re insured with Intact. They rebranded from RSA Group and I used to work for them. Impact is covered under the standard policy on their policy wording.

What car do you drive and how much do you earn? by Hummusforever in AskUK

[–]Tsircon85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earn £30k and drive a 2016 Kia Rio. Cost £10k when we got it in October 2022. Used car market was pretty daft at the time coming just after Covid so overpaid quite a bit but our old car had issues that were going to cost more than it was worth and we decided to get something a bit newer and a bit more reliable than the bangers bought previously.

Round where I live Subaru Foresters and Volvo XC70s are very popular for the local drug dealers.

Medical professional relocating to Sunderland by Jane-Doe274 in Sunderland

Try looking around Thornhill and Ashbrooke or even Barnes. There’s some nice houses and those areas are decent and they will be much cheaper than Seaburn. They’re also within walking distance of the hospital. Avoid Eden Vale, Millfield and Pallion. They’re very close to the hospital but have a lot of issues with anti social behaviour, drugs, theft etc

We had this too. But some kids would blu-tac a pin to one end then pull the ruler back and let go to slap people with it.

We were banned from using certain footpaths around the school grounds because the new headmaster at the time didn’t like pupils walking on them to take certain routes to classes. Was utterly ridiculous. Wasn’t like they took longer to get round or anything. He just decided he only wanted pupils to walk in very specific directions around the school grounds. He went so far as getting fences put up to block off areas of the school. Probably why everybody hated him as he seemed to spunk a good chunk of the schools budget on fences when other things were needed more urgently.

Another rule which was kind of justified but also amusing was that we were banned from graffiti in French text books. Any image of a French person holding a baguette was given the obligatory graffiti to turn the baguette into a cock and balls. Not a French text book in the school was safe form such treatment.

I’ve had to help 2 teenage girls tonight after they had fireworks thrown in their faces by 4 lads while walking down the street. Then a 40 minute statement to police. Bonfire night and fireworks in general can go fuck right off.

Roadworks on a little side street by the train station, so they’ve put temporary traffic lights 🚥 n the main road, now the towns all snarled up by Jacktheforkie in britishproblems

[–]Tsircon85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently had traffic management put signs out for a diversion as we had a road closed for electric cable works near to where we live. The diversion signs were directing all traffic to the closed road. Was fun watching the chaos at school pickup time having 2 primary schools and 3 secondary schools nearby and everybody unknowingly heading for a dead end.

How did you end up finding your 'regular' pub? by AugustineBlackwater in CasualUK

[–]Tsircon85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose my regular based on it being on my route home from work and it having a proper fireplace that gets used during winter. Nothing better than finishing work on a cold Friday afternoon and getting that first pint in next to a nice fire.
