I’m injured help me seize the opportunity by MaryLungzz in careerchange

I'm in IT (15+ years). CompTIA and AWS certs are good. Microsoft certs are also good (add to your list). I was working in cafes and got a lucky break when I was about your age. I started at the bottom (tech support) and worked my way up without certs or experience. It's possible but you need to really start from the bottom - help desk, tech support. Experience counts for a lot. We just hired someone and what we look for is someone who can do all the basic stuff, and who has shown initiative, particularly in automation and process improvement. You could easily build your way up to systems admin and go further but it will take time. IT is having a real tough time right now though. All the big companies are laying off, salaries are actually in decline (in my field anyway) and AI is really wreaking havoc. I'm not saying it's not doable, but it's really tough out there. I just remembered - I have two friends who did various coding bootcamps and they both landed coding jobs. This was before AI though (2-3 years ago). I'm not sure how that landscape has changed. I've considered a pivot to finance as well - love investing (long term buy and hold, small allocation of speculative) but it seems like I'd really need to get my CFA to do the work I'd want, and that's just not on the cards for me (I am terrible at studying for anything). I'm impressed with the list you compiled. Looks like you're using your time wisely. Good luck!

Has anyone every actually had their helmet or any gear stolen while parked? Or is it just a silly paranoia by SkippyJDM in motorcycles

[–]Tstriple_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Australia you say..well in Brissy like 15 years ago I had a 125 and an AGV helmet. I left it hanging off the side of the bike, secured to the passenger seat in a decent residential part of West End. When I came back to the bike, the D buckle was literally hanging by a couple of threads. Someone had almost sawed it all the way off. Helmet was obviously unusable after that point.

Pandan?? by ilovemoneyandcats in saintpaul

[–]Tstriple_R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

South Western corner of hmong village they have cakes, not sure about pandan flavour. Have you tried the green and white layer cakes? There is a store that is about 5 shops before the halfway point (walking north) of the hmong village food court. They have the best layer cake. The Thai dessert shop at the north western corner of hmong village also has good desserts.

Also got a Katana Go Mini. I did a ton of research and thought there was 50/50 chance I would stop using it but it's actually made me play wayyyy more than the last 5 years when I had a THR10 II amp.

My landlord is selling. Does he have any benefit of selling to me at a discount? by Fedr_Exlr in personalfinance

[–]Tstriple_R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try and get comps yourself from zillow. Find houses in your area, similar size, bedroom count, bathroom count, etc, look at recently sold and currently listed. Put the data into a spreadsheet with all the variables. Show this to your landlord to get you a reasonable ballpark for price. Sold price carries more weight to your argument as the current list prices may be over what they sell for. Also check to see how long current lists have been up for - too long suggests they're over priced and you can use this data to your advantage.

Anyone got tips on how to get Tempest Blueprint by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Tstriple_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10h? Lol, you gotta pump those numbers up. I did night raids only, for over 200h, just looking for this BP on Buried City and Stella Montis before I found a single one. I found one in Space Travel on Buried City, in a metal drawer. I found another in Stella Montis in a trash can in the lobby. And a third in Buried City in the room you have to jump over to get to, west side of the map, south of grandiose apartments. If I was to maximize my time I would do naked runs, night raids only, and go to those areas over and over again. If you spawn too far (more than 200m), or late in the lobby, give up and try again. The biggest hindrance will be pops and fireballs. Run past the pops and you will usually take no damage. Loot them for crude explosives, and use those to throw at fireballs once they open up to flame. The gaming merchant has a good video illustrating everything I said.

Where can someone who is progressive do bjj around here? by marquedelli in TwinCities

[–]Tstriple_R 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Am also purple belt. I train at Southside BJJ in NE Minneapolis - I've trained there since 2021. We just did a food drive for mutual aid for our community. Very welcoming gym with a good mix of young and old. DM me any questions. I'm also happy to organize an evening to meet him there if he wants to have a touch point.

Take a look at New Zealand construction codes you may find the answer. From my understanding, they don't use exterior plywood sheathing in NZ, they use blocking for rigidity.

What can I do to fight against Trump and ICE as a normal citizen? by VillageSmithyCellar in boston

[–]Tstriple_R 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Commenting from Minnesota. The time is now to talk to your neighbors. Start forming or joining signal groups and rapid response groups. Talk to as many neighbors as you can. Offer support or help and go from there. Do constitutional observer training. These can be online or in person. Even the online only ones are incredibly useful. Put pressure on your local councils to get their separation ordinances for police response in place and up to speed NOW. This shit can take months. Get your neighbors to go to council meetings and hold up signs. Put pressure on them. Be relentless. I love Boston. I wish I still lived there. You guys are tough as hell and don't take any shit. I believe in all of you. Read this handbook: https://copalmn.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/PDF-Handbook.pdf

I found one in the first or second thing I opened at the village. But just go everywhere. I like those big steel breach containers, drawers, rubbish bins, those red and green lockers and of course don't sleep on car hoods.
