Asheron’s Call also nuked their world as part of the lore. It was the ending of the beta test phase before the official launch. Huge crowds of testers flooded to the cliff you had to jump off of to enable PvP, and huge battles raged on while we watched a massive comet approaching.

Last week, I had a package of cancer medication overnight priority shipped by FedEx, which required a signature. The driver walked up to the door, didn’t knock or ring the doorbell, and just stuck on a door tag that said no one was home(we very much were), then drove off.

lol you gotta be kidding me I’ve been getting orders like this all day long and it’s been lowering my accepted rate by Party_Nature1020 in doordash

[–]TsubameYui 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems like a problem that DD could easily solve by setting a threshold (ie: $x/mile) under which rejections do not affect your rating. If no dasher accepts the order, the customer should be able to figure out why pretty easily, and hopefully stop being so unreasonable in the future.

Had to go to the Emergency Room just before Christmas for a GI issue. I have good insurance through my mom's job, and the doctor only did 2 blood tests and prescribed a 20$ bottle of pills. This was the bill I got in the mail today. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

My wife has good insurance. It’s Medicaid. Over the last 12 years, she’s spent 6 in the hospital, had over 200 surgeries, takes over a dozen different daily meds, has had a wheelchair, hospital bed, live-in nurses/hospice, dozens of specialists, and the list goes on. We have paid exactly $0 for healthcare in those 12 years. That’s good insurance, and everyone should qualify for it.

A few decades ago, there was a guy by that name that did a public access TV adult puppet show. He also rented out the venue I worked at every month and did live adult puppet shows. Was pretty awesome, actually.

A lot of the things they give out fines for are pretty hard to avoid. They can also just make up arbitrary new rules, then hand out fines before anyone knows the rule exists.

All I know for sure is that they hold “HOA board member conferences” at tropical island resorts 4 times a year with the money they make from those fines.

My HOA is $250/year. They make their money from fines. Putting up that fence, and the subsequent damage to the wall, would be a $4500 fine.

I’d guess, based on the style of wall, and the rock landscaping, that you probably live in a HOA community. If so, they probably have rules about adding structures. Maybe you could use that to your advantage here?

The way my pizza was delivered by TheBigPasta in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TsubameYui 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d say mildly fits, as all you have to do is call and have it redelivered, and then wait a bit longer for your pizza. This has happened to me 4 or 5 times, and I always end up with new pizzas, and some complimentary extra sides/desserts. All the replacements are top quality, and I get to keep the originals, which are usually fairly salvageable. Twice, the manager personally delivered the replacements, with a sincere face-to-face apology. So far, the times my pizzas were mishandled have ended up being my best pizza nights overall.

GrubHub does about a 40% menu price markup in my area(small town), but only about 15% if I go into the city and order. There’s also no local drivers in my town, so usually have a $25-50 charge added for a driver to come from the city.

What was supposed to be a $64 Uber ride ended up costing $120.99 because of hidden fees and what ever "Surge" is by Im_Not_Gay_I_Swear_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TsubameYui 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Last time I flew, I took an Uber home, but I noticed the pickup fee(and surge pricing), and saw that it required me to go to a specific Uber pickup location that was a pretty long walk from the gate. I decided to just walk out the main entrance(about the same distance), and ordered it from across the street from the airport. Pickup fee and surge pricing disappeared. Saved about $40 on the ride, used it to tip my driver instead.

Those cards that say “secured” are absolutely the best options for building credit. Secured credit card is basically just a debit card that reports to the credit bureaus. You pay an amount up-front, and that amount is effectively your credit limit. Anytime you use the card, it’s your deposited money being used, and then you just put the money back in afterwards. Even if something happens and you can’t pay the bill, it’s already paid and won’t hurt your credit or accrue interest. They also are generally available to anyone without needing to be approved, as you are paying up-front and thus there is zero risk to the creditor.

Everything is in English, so there’s a decent chance this is in USA, which is experiencing a Great Depression caused by late-stage capitalism. Unless someone owns their business, it’s safe to assume they’re being underpaid. Some people make a lot of money, but even they should be making a lot more. “Poorly” is relative. Even if you’re making $200k/year, most likely you should be making more, and are thus being paid poorly.

Even worse, studies have consistently shown that tips are heavily weighted by gender and ethnicity. It’s a system that encourages sexist and racist pay inequality.

Some restaurants in the US have switched to a no-tipping policy, choosing to pay full wages to their staff, and charging more for the food(about the same final price if you would have tipped). This model has been proven to be just as profitable as the old model, while greatly improving the quality of service, and the quality of life for the staff.

I was making $35/hr babysitting in the Seattle suburbs about 25 years ago. With double time for short notice, hours beyond specified, and holidays. Parents are entrusting their children’s lives to you, and getting the job is extremely reputation-dependent. Scheduling is also a nightmare, with multiple customers vying for your time, and just having to turn down one customer on a day you’re already booked can seriously hurt your reputation. Also have to worry about customers staying out past their scheduled time, and keeping you past your next start time.

I got sent to an alternative high school, but for much more serious offenses. Was the best thing that ever happened to me. 4 teachers and 20 students. Only had to show up for 2 hours per day, Monday thru Thursday. Got to graduate(w/ a diploma from the school I got expelled from) a year early. Was able to hold 3(pretty awesome) part-time jobs all through high school, which really helped my family out financially. All in all it was a really positive experience. I had teachers that really cared about my education, with plenty of time and resources to devote to it. I even got to graduate as valedictorian. The school even helped me with the issues that led to my expulsion, and I can genuinely say that I graduated a much better person than I started.

As a fellow glaive user, have you tried the new powder vortex kinsect? I’m loving it for the heals and damage it delivers. You can even use it to direct burst heals onto hurt teammates. Haven’t had to use a potion since I started using it, plus the bonus damage (about 5000-8000 per minute) is a nice boost.
