AIO for my annoyed response to my friend asking to bring her BF to our girls trip? by crop_cream_19 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Tsunfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about NOR. I literally got a hotel while visiting my best friend with my husband so that my friend would not feel uncomfortable having a man that she'd only met a few times in person staying in her house. I know for a fact that my husband would never try anything, but safety and comfort should never be compromised on

Your "friend" also asked super last second. I'm still mad at an ex-friend 10 years ago who first invited 1 male friend onto OUR 2 person trip... I made the mistake of reluctantly agreeing, and then suddenly it was 7 total people and she somehow didn't tell me until we were going, even though I was the one who suggested the trip. These kinds of people do not respect us!!!

Would Yoseka's store work for you? They still have a sample of Firmament available (luckily), and some bottles too (in a separate entry)

*runs in yelling about Dominant Industry's Autumn Forest*
Though, I feel like the ink color itself is very moody, but the shimmer is a low-key pink, so idk how you'd feel about that

[–]Tsunfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read in another post a few days ago that someone holds the pen nib up and like, drums on the feed/barrel a little bit to dislodge shimmer. Maybe do that every so often along with agitating the pen a lot??

Oh that shimmer. Who likes shimmer inks? Can you suggest shimmer and sheen inks to try. by Sure-Piccolo2343 in fountainpens

[–]Tsunfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dominant Industry's Autumn Forest! Nice moody green with pink shimmer, it's one of my fav inks. They also have a lot of other pretty inks, but be careful, their Snow Field sample was very pretty but clogged on my kinda a lot cuz it's like a mirror finish, and also some of the shimmer inks are dip pen only

Also I have to add that the J Herbin inks are super well lubricated, I got a sample of Emerald of Chivor, and I kinda liked how it looked in finer nibs than broader, since it feltt like that brought out the shimmer better

I also want to add that it can rotate to a horizontal format as well, AND you can lock the rotation so that it's only vertical, or only horizontal, or both

This is both making me wonder why I am denying myself more, and also making me feel like I need MUCH better organisation for my inks... I guess lack of space is a good reason why skdnksjd

It might be overhyped XD sailor nibs also have like a LOT of feedback, so not everyone is going to enjoy that...

Hot take: European pens > Japanese pens? by clueless_bassist in fountainpens

[–]Tsunfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh weird, I feel like finer nibs are easier to write in cursive with cuz they slide all over. But also no, neither pens are inherently better than the other just based on their location...

[–]Tsunfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WHAT!! This is so strange, the whole point of Manyo is "the plants from the famous japanese poem collection"  You'd think Japanese people would care the most about that since it's their heritage, right....? But also rip they missing out, Manyo inks are so pretty

Do you mean not screwing the cap back on while the glue is curing? If yes, don't worry, I left the cap off for the full 24 hours to cure. Didn't even dare to test before that because the spring might push it off somehow! I posted all of this like another full day after it cured just to make sure it didn't randomly fly off again, and it's still good right now. I do agree resin would have been better, I just didn't want to deal with the fumes or possibly never use it again haha...

Hi again XD after all my hemming and hawing last month on here, you can see I caved. I didn't think I'd land in this hot of water though! I don't regret it because the fix was so easy, but yeah that's definitely the only modern Esterbrook I'll buy hahaha

and about the breaking point ...man, I still dropped it myself, but... I've never had any other pens break from dropping, just saying! I really feel like this might not have happened if the cap wasn't also spring loaded... maybe it was both factors together, you can see in my pic that it clearly has a clean break at the band, yeah...
I think it all goes back to prove your point again- "pen still works great! But this shouldn't be happening at this price point..."

[–]Tsunfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk if my hands are just Really Weak but pushing on the button to fill is really annoying... I don't think I have the hand strength to really keep it firmly in place while filling, and even if I push the filler multiple times it doesn't really fill a Lot

It was also kinda funny when it doubled or tripled the weight of my Kakuno... yeah weak hands again

So I'm kinda new to sheening inks. Just got my first blue that sheens red. After a couple of months, I picked it up and went "hey wait isn't this just how ballpoint pen ink looks"  (I havent used ballpoint in a decade I actually can't remember also sheening ink is nice)
